Clippers/Grooming Question I have a nice set of whal animal clippers and although I have never clipped a Yorkie before, I have experience in grooming/clipping other dogs, sheep and horses but I have never used the guards/guides before. When I went to give my Mylee a hair cut to even up her hair with her surgical shave, my clippers wouldn't cut her hair. The guards don't seem to pick up the hair and position it right and instead clogs my blades. She has super fine, silky/cottony hair that lays close to the skin. My blades are brand new, and it cuts just fine if I hold the hair up and then cut it. I think they would cut great without the guard/guides but it would be way too short for my liking. I managed to get through it, but it's so uneven and I think I can do better. Is it me or my clippers? |
I think Mardelin said that you don't use the attachments, but you don't use the blade that comes with the clipper either. There is a special blade called a finishing blade, and it leaves the hair longer. Joey's hair is cut very short on his body, but I've seen some pictures were it looks shaved instead of short, and you don't want this, so look for a blade with "F" in the number. |
Thanks Nancy. They are the Wahl Arco SE clippers. It's blade is adjustable, but I don't see that Wahl makes other blades for this clipper. Even though they are widely advertised as a "dog" grooming clipper maybe they are not so good for Yorkies. Maybe I need to trade them in on something different. |

Here's the best I can find without going on a massive hunt. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...ml#post3126158 kalina82, in post 38 said it's a 7F blade for the haircut Joey has. Here's one that fits the Oster. ![]() |
