Growing her out HELP!! I am growing out Sadie. I wanted to try it at least once to see how we do with it. She's at the crazy in between stage that's all fuzzy and not flowing yet. PJs and sweaters matt her up terribly but so far with a quick comb through she's able to come out of that fast. her top hair is hard to keep tame. if i leave it down it gets in her food and mouth and gets crusty then breaks off in brushing, but if i top knot it she'll mat in a day or two and that's also causing breakage. am i doomed to just whack it all back off again or can you guys offer suggestions during the growing out phase with better shampoos and conditioners (we currently only use allergroom for allergies and so her flea and tick meds. aren't stripped off, no conditioner) HELP ME!!! |
I have tried lots of shampoo and conditioner on Rosie. Her hair is longer. The one that I have liked is Yorkie Splash and Shine. I also use the spray in conditioner, Yorkie Sheen. Also, I have a wonderful groomer that helped me through the grow out stage and gave me advice along the way. If you have a groomer you trust you may start asking him/her too. I know it is frustrating but hang in there. They are so pretty when their hair grows out in my opinion. Also, think about our own hair. How many times have I been frustrated when going through the "in between" stage. Your baby will be beautiful what ever you decide to do. |

I don't have any suggestions for the beard crusties besides washing her face after she eats. And for the top knot, you should be taking it out every night and brushing the hair. I would assume they'd get a headache like we do when a pony tail is left in too long. Its gotta be uncomfortable at least. Anyway, leave the hair down at night and then put it back up in the morning I love chris christensen clean start shampoo and the after bath rinse on silky yorkies. it makes their hair so nice and silky. |
Maybe you can try braiding her hair or tying it in a ponytail so it won't get into her food. Or you can do what show breeders do and wrap their hair so that it doesn't get dirty/damaged while it's growing out. Don't use rubber bands to tie up her top knot because the hair will break. Try using a barrette or clip instead. Good luck! |
