Kujo's hair Hi everyone, I just registered for this site, so I am new. But I have a few quick questions about my yorkie and what haircut he should have. Kujo is 6 years old and has had some struggle with mange. we put him on medication, and now he is clearing up. he has kind of thick, curly hair. i want a shorter cut that actually shows, in the face, that he is a yorkie. i dont really like the puppy cut, but i like the short hair. any suggestions? thank you! P.S. He has this awkward looking growth on the very top of his head.when we take him to the vet, she doesn't say anything about it, but it gets in the way when brushing. help? thanks again! |
So sorry you have had to deal with mange. Is he completely cured now? I would use a modified westie cut where the hair is short on the back and neck, a little longer on the legs and leaves a "skirt" of short hair on the sides of the body. With this cut you can have the groomer round off the face and leave some so he looks more like a Yorkie. I'm sure if you do a search you can find pictures of Yorkies trimmed like this on YT. Hi and welcome to YT! Can you post a picture of your yorkie so we can see his hair? There are many different types of haircuts you can try with your boy. A puppy cut simply means same length all over (meaning legs and body are the same length). the hair could be anywhere from 1/4in to 2 inches long and still be considered a puppy cut. Your dog and my dog have VERY similar coloration, that could work for Kujo. and yes Teresamag, i will post pictures, it is just wierd looking. my mother thinks it is just a mole; but if it were a mole, would it itch him constantly? he is almost always rubbing on something, trying to scratch it. and he is verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryy close to being almost cured from mange. he has one little bald spot left. |

You can always keep the body short and have longer hair on the face. Not full coat long, but longer. I wish I had more pictures on this computer to show you what I mean. |
i will most likely have pictures up by this weekend. this week hasn't been the best for me so far... =P, starting with Kujo getting out of the house and taking off for a whole day of adventure. and i need not bore you with the rest. lol.i have pictures on the camera... just need to upload. |
