Help with eye boogies!! 1 Attachment(s) She looks great right after a bath, but the next day, her hair around her eyes will be dried up and sticking out all over the place! I've tried rewetting the hair and gently coming them out but it seems to make her really miserable, sometimes she gets clumps in the corners of her eyes. I don't know if it's our water or food, but my puppy doesn't have this issue since we've switched foods. I've heard the only thing that really helps is Angel Eyes but it's pretty expensive, has anyone else found anything that works? Thanks, YTers <3 |
Help with eye boogies First of all, use only bottled water. Secondly, my groomer told me to put a tiny bit of mineral oil under her eye and use a flea comb to comb it out the next a.m. and it sure does work! I do the whole face with the flea comb. Good luck |
Thank you, that sounds like a good idea. |
Thank you for the info. I will try the mineral water and flea comb on Zack and Zoey. |

How do you know when the eye gookies are just gookies and not an eye infection? It looks a lot crustier than usual. Are there indicators of an infection? His eyes don't smell. Thank you! Oh--we only use bottled water too. |
One of my babies gets more boogies than the others and I read somewhere that using shea butter on the corners of the eyes helps and it does. The shea butter stops the boogies from sticking so that you can just wipe them off. |

I actually use a little bit of saline eye solution (contact solution, actually) to clean out from under Sophie's eyes. it doesn't bother her and it actually helps with the tear stains, too. Whatever my groomer uses gets all of it gone. I need to ask what that is that she uses. |
My vet told me 2 things go on with eye boogies... yeast overgrowth and alergies. He suggested putting coconut oil in their food. Only takes a little 1/4 to 1/2 tsp for small dogs. 1tsp for 20 pds and up. My babies love Nutiva they lick it right off spoon;) Hope this helps someone out also you can put some under eyes and use flea comb. Hugs |
