puppies hair is a hot mess lol HELP When I got my first Yorkie he was 9 weeks old and already had silver/grey hair showing on the top of his head. I bath him once a week and I use oatmeal shampoo and condintioner and also a detangler. I brush him daily with a conditioner/detangler diluted with water in a spray bottle but his hair is matted as soon as I finish brushing him. His hair also breaks off where the black part of his hair meets the new silver hair thats growing in. His hair is dry and brittle and looks horrible. I think he has a cotton coat because the texture isnt silky at all. His hair is all over the place and wont lay down and I don't know what to do with it. Please help.. Any advice would be great. I'm at a loss for what I can do. |
sounds like a puppy cut is called for. It will help remove the dark puppy hair and the rest will be much more managable |
your pup is soooo cute !!! thank you for the advice.. He goes in for his last puppy shots tomorrow. I think I will go by the groomers after that and see if he can get a hair cut lol |

What great before and after photos. I just adore those big ears!! And you will love the Yorkie Splash and Shine. So far my boys have used it twice and I can't get enough of the smell. |
He is a cutie for sure. Next time, I would ask them to tip his ears and I think you will be really happy with the look. The first time a groomer asked me if I wanted one of my yorkie's ears tipped I was shocked and said NO! Crazy me, thought they were going to cut his ear! Then I found out that just meant to shave the hair off the top third of the ear. Makes them look so much neater! |

I'd trim his ears. And in case you hadn't noticed it by yourself, clothes make the hair matted. Hang in there, it'll get easier once he's changed to adult coat. |
Thank you so much everybody.. I love YT everyone is so nice and helpfull.. and I need all the advice I can get lol .. Since Chippers Hair cut it has been so much easier to brushing him and his matts and tangles are way more managable! |
Chipper looks adorable before and after his cut! Puppy coat can be a challenge for sure. Another tip is to make sure you are using a good quality pin brush (not plastic) |

Yup it was a very tramatic day for him.. he slept for hours when I brought him back home.. hehe.. but he's a tough boy and I was very proud of him.. |

OMGosh.. I just used my Yorkie splash and shine shampoo and conditioner and the detangler spray on Chipper and I can't belive how soft he feels.. I brushed him right after his bath and he hasnt completely dried yet but I can't belive how easy it was to brush him.. no tangles at all !!! I love this stuff !! I'm hooked !! |

oh yes.. I would get the spray. it smells so good and after spraying the detangler on him the comb went right on though. even the hair behind his ears and along his neck.. thats where his problem areas usually are. I was very impressed !! |

oh yes.. its a huge difference lol.. After I got his hair cut and got some of that puppy hair off him his hair was so much better.. he still has his puppy hair but its a lot more managable!. and this yorkie splash and shine helps alot to. I think its only going to get better after his puppy hair grows out and gets cut off. his hair still isnt silky.well his head is more silky but his back still has the puppy hair and not silky but its not as dry and brittle looking. its been a blessing !! |
