How do you trim the hair between the pads?
 
How do you keep the hair between the foot pads short. A vet told me to keep the hair growing out between Buster's pads short as it gets uncomfortable when it is too heavy. She said to use clippers. I need to buy a pair but what length of a blade should I use and how do I do it without hurting his pads?

I use a little moustache trimmer. It works great!

I bought a little battery powered eye brow trimmer. It's quiet and has a very small blade.

Can you post a link/picture of what kind? It seems that Kaji's pad hair grows much faster than I thought. Something small and quiet would work better for frequent pad trimming.

I have used trimmers and tiny scissors. Phoebe just lays there , so that makes it easy for me with scissors.

As a groomer/exhibitor/breeder, I've found the safest to trim paw pads and ears is a Whal Peanut. Paw pads should be kept short, not only for the comfort, it hinders the possibility of getting debris attached to the hair. And most of all it keeps them from slipping and sliding on surfaces.

:thumbup: My foster katie had balls of GUNK in there! I was wondering why she kept licking her paws. Well her former owners didn't trim inbetween the toes and she had god knows what in there, black gunky goo stuck in her fur. It was a struggle getting her to flip over and cut them out with blunt nosed scissors. She didn't trust me yet at that point.

now I have heard that nose hair trimmers work great too. If your pup doesn't like to be flipped on their back, try to do it in the "shoe-ing a horse" position if that makes sense. Them standing and take one paw and bend it towards the back and make the paw facing upwards.
