Getting my clippers today! I ordered the Oster A5 two speed clipper and it is scheduled for delivery tonight. I will be practicing on Bitsy since she is much calmer than little Emee, who is full of puppy energy. My question is does anyone use the comb attachments for a longer look? I did order a 5F blade also but was planning to try a comb first. Anyone have good results with the comb attachments? |
Mixed Reviews on grooming Well...Bitsy looks pretty good but Teddy has some gouges in his fur. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? I ended up taking the combs off since they didn't seem to be taking off any fur. I put on a 4Fblade and went in the direction the fur grows. Teddy has a thick cottonly coat (Maltese) and it did not turn out as nice as Bitsy's silk coat. Any suggestions. I'll post some pictures later. |
I pretty much use the combs all the time. I start with one that I think will cut short. If this doesn't take any hair off, I go one lower and so on. When I do their summer cut, I got directly for the 1/4 or 1/16" comb right off. I would recommend though, if the dog has long hair start with longer combs or scissor most of the hair off first so as not to clog up the shorter combs. Best of luck...remember, the hair will grow back. That's what I tell myself when I try something different. lol would love to see pictures. |
When using the combs go against the direction of hair growth. The comb will pick up the hair allowing the clipper to trim the ends off. If you go in the direction of hair growth you will just flatten the hair under the comb and not cut anything off. Again , don't worry hair grows back. :D |
