Holy Mats! Well I have obviously been a bad yorkie mom, with my work trips and weekend getaways I was slacking on the grooming :( and now Rizzo has mats all over his face.:thumbdown I've been pulling them apart with my fingers, and then combing them with a metal comb from the end to the root. I've managed to get out all the small ones, but there are 2 big ones on either side of his mouth, and he is so sensitive around there that I cant get him to sit still for me to even start by pulling them apart. I got him to sit still long enough to get one big one cut off of him, but it was far enough from the root, just too big that I was doing more pulling then detangling. The problem is that the other two biggies are right at the root and I cant get him still enough to feel comfortable putting scissors near them. Any suggestions? Is there some miracle de-matter? Rizzo appreciates the help :animal-pa |
I use a product called Cowboy Magic but I doubt you have that in Italy!! It is for horses and sold with horse tack supplies. You can also find any human hair products that have silicone or silk protein in it. They are clear thick liquids that coat the hair and when you use your hands to pull the matts out, the hair just slips apart from each other. I have one little guy that matts just looking at him so don't feel like a bad mama, it happens to all of us!! Good luck!! |
Thank you so much, I'm going to see if I can find a place that'll deliver to apo/fpo, might have some luck with amazon. |
That used to happen with Kasha before she lost her puppy coat! If I blinked between brushings, she would matt! Try letting some conditioner sit on it and then using a comb or fingers to pick it apart. Best of luck! |
Cowboy magic is great, but I wouldn't want to put it too close to his eyes or nose. Cornstarch is also a wonderful tool! put a small wad on the matt then work it through with your fingers, do it on dry coat. |
