Summer cut question Hi, I haven't posted in quite a while. Duke is now a 1yr old, and the groomer says he's losing his puppy fluff. He goes to the groomer every 3 weeks and she does a great job with him. However, in between grooming's I try to keep him brushed but he always looks like a rag-a-muffin. Duke loves to play hard. I'm considering giving him a summer "trim/cut" any suggestions? I looked at a couple of pictures on here but I'm nervous about cutting his hair. He has floppy ears too if that makes any difference in the "tips". Thanks in advance, Gina & Duke |
A summer cut is usually just a shorter version of their normal cut, or it can mean a total shave down to some people. So just like the term "puppy cut" you need to be very specific on the length you want. Do you have a current pic of Duke? How is his hair cut now? In the spring when it starts to get really warm I just shave Morgan all the way down so she's nekkid. Its so much cooler for her and i don't have to brush her at all. she loves it. as spring and summer progress i usually continue to cut her body (black parts) really short and let her legs grow out. if her legs get too long and its still hot outside i'll scissor them up a bit to shorten them. some people here with full coated silky yorkies will do a really cute cut that to me, resembles a chinese crested. The black coat on the body is shaved really short but the legs, head, and tail are left long and flowing. Nancy's Joey is the best example and there are lots that "stole" his look: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...tell-joey.html check out these threads: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ummer-cut.html http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...rter-cuts.html |
