What is a good product to help with hair growth? What is a good product to use to promote good hair growth? Also, what is a good dog food for the hair? Thanks! |
I would love to get an answer to your question!!;) I am having a hair issue with Molly. She has very little hair on her hind legs and her hair was shedding on her body. We did a thyroid test and results came back normal. My next step was either going to LSU or doing an "elimination" experiment with food, treats & shampoo. Since the beginning of the month I have changed her diet to Natural Balance Venison & Sweet potato & changed her shampoo to Troipiclean hypoallergenic shampoo. She also gets a Allerg-3 tab (liquid squeezed onto her food) daily. A member posted about DerMagic lotion (www.dermagic.com) and I read up on that & spoke with a rep from the company about Molly's condition. I ordered & have received the product & have been using it since Monday. These are just a few things that I have done for Molly, can't really tell you if it will work until later! Best of Luck & I hope other members can help out!:animal36 |

What do you feed him? I believe a healthy, balanced diet is the most effective way to promote hair growth. Other things that will affect hair growth: genetics, hair type, and activity. I have read here and in Yorkie books that really silky hair can be slower growing than softer types. Grass and carpeting will damage hair. My Teddy's hair grows faster than Maximo's. He has never had his hair cut. I trimmed the Maxman's body (and shaved his rear end :p) when he was 3-5 months and it is only now filling in at 18+ months. |

I know what you mean about going back and forth between wanting to cut and wanting to grow. When I have Max's facial hair banded up to protect it from his sticky chewies, I think he would look so cute with short hair. Wouldn't it be nice if the dogs were like those dolls where the hair could be pulled out or reeled in for different lengths? :p Growing the hair back would definitely take a long time. As I wrote above, Max's rear end hair has taken over a year to grow back. I forgot to indicate above that one of the things that I believe has promoted hair growth on my boys is this brush that I learned about from Mardelin: Amazon.com: Isinis Hair Brush * Made In France:... The brush separates and detangles beautifully. I believe it stimulates the hair follicles better than other brushes. |

Thanks for the link to the brush. I do need to get a better one than the one I have now. |

Peeing on the belly -- trimming the 'pee string' just right usually eliminates that problem. Getting it just right is the hard part, lol. Max lifts his leg outside and sometimes tips over so far that he hits his hair, grrr. If you buy the ISINIS brush, keep in mind that you don't need to dig into the skin with it. |
