Why is Bailey's hair so fragile? I'm just wondering if I am doing something wrong! Bailey has such a fine thin coat that breaks very easily, I'm afraid he will eventually be bald! He just turned a year old. I feed him Wellness Small Breed, I give him Coconut oil daily, he gets his veggies. Is there anything else I can do to make his hair less fragile? I avoid conditioner usually because it weighs the hair down:( I am at a loss, does anyone else have the same problem with their little ones hair? |
Sorry, I can't really help....but I have noticed with Zhoie's cottony coat, when she wears her clothes everyday, she too gets alot of breakage. That is why I decided to shave her saddle down for summer. I can't help it....I just love her to wear clothes and she really likes them too. Good Luck, hope others can give some good advice. |
My Ruby's coat is the same, it's a fragile silk coat, will get only so long, is very thin, fine hair. Sounds like you're already doing everything I would recommend, a good food, the coconut oil, but I DO use conditioner on Ruby. I use less and water it down a little - IDK if it protects her hair but would think so, as it's not dry and prone to breaking from being brittle, dry hair. |

What brushes and combs are you using? Do you make sure to spray his coat with a light conditioner before brushing? Dry coats are very fragile. |

If you are willing for all the work involved you can wrap his coat, then put on a wrapping jacket, and only then put on whatever clothes you want him to wear. Try trimming a very wee bit on the ends of his coat. Argan oil from Moroccp (sp) is a product I'm just investigating now - it is supposed to strengthen the hair shaft. Scalp massage is excellent for promoting good circulation to the skin. You could do this at bath time, when you put in the conditioner 3-4 minutes while conditioner is working. Just a couple of ideas. |

Darlene, Pixie has the same kind of hair as Bailey. I see all these Yorkies with thick hair and I wonder what I am doing wrong as well, but I really think that Yorkies are like humans some have nice thick hair and others have fine hair. |
I bought a conditioning spray from Jenny that I am really liking, it is pretty light. Also, the conditioner I just got from brendah wwwwebstartscomFurBabiesPetPlace is really light but works really well. |
Vellus anti static spray is good for brush out very light. Also their conditioner when diluted properly is the lightest thing I've used so far. Also Razz's hair started to dry out due to his love of lying over the heat vent!. Another idea is maybe you are not rising the conditioner out enough? The hair if rinsed properly should only have a slight slick to it ( wow try saying slight slick ..out loud fast three times.lol lol) Shoot just noticed you are from Canada if you live near me in toronto, Ontario, I'd be willing to give you some samples of the products I have, you can try them out and see if you like them |
