Best hair cut to keep hair out of eyes I am going crazy over here. I've tried keeping the hair on Thor's face long with a top know. I've tried shaving his nose. Currently, I have his whiskers long and a "visor" over his eyes. It seems like no matter what I do, he ALWAYS has hair blocking his eyes, and often sticking IN them. The top knot was by far the worst for that. I was checking his eyes several times a day and pulling long hairs out of them, poor little guy. I'm starting to feel like this is not a solvable problem. Maybe it's because he has silky hair and he's so small - his hair is super light, and unless it is also super long, it sticks straight out. Any hair I cut short along the nose immediately springs out to a 45 degree angle... and all the long hair droops down and covers what's left of his vision. What is the secret to 20/20 yorkie vision?? I would prefer not to keep his nose shaved because you have to maintain that so frequently, and I don't like cutting near his eyes. Also, and here's what makes it super difficult - I like his whiskers to stick straight out horizontally, with no beard. It's just a cuter look for his face. When his whiskers/beard get long, he starts to look like a sad old man. |
I think the "growing out" phase, yes looks like an old man. once you get past that then it gets cute again. Maybe for Thor, grow out the nose and visor again, and once it's long enough it will lay down. The growing out part is the worst. Have you tried using top knot gel? It helps to kind of glue down the hairs while it's growing out. Then keep his under jaw area shorter than the whiskers to keep that fluffy face look. I think silky hair lays down flatter than cotton too. I used to cut the hair around Uni's eyes before too, but as soon as it would grow a little it would be poking directly into the eye. I was also really uncomfortable with having scissors, even round nose ones that close to her eye. Then after clipping it, being afraid that the cut ends would fall in her eye! After it grew out, it just lays down flat, no problem. The only time hair gets in her eye now is when its gets out from her barettes, but then that just means I need to redo her hair. |
I am having the same problem with Pixie the groomer trimmed the hair on her nose around her eyes and I am trying to grow it out and it keeps poking her in the eyes. I want to get past the difficult stage bc I think it looks better. ugh!! |
