Does anyone use PediPaws successfully? I purchased a PediPaws but have no clue how to use it. I went to the instructional video on the PediPaws website, but did not get the answer I was looking for. How exactly do I use it?? Do I file it downwards -- so that the "PediPaws" logo goes towards the floor, or do I file it upwards -- so that the logo go towards the ceiling (assuming that the PediPaws is in my right hand, with the pup sitting on my lap)? |

Honestly, go with what is most comfortable for you and your furbaby. Not that I recommend this in any way, but I use it without that orange thing. I first cut my boy's nails down and I just use to to make sure his nails aren't scratchy. I go up, down, and I do the sides too. I never could get it to work with that orange "protection" thing on top. Kaji fidgeted more that way. Whatever you do, keep the hair back, otherwise you will end up with broken hair on his/her paws. |

OK, here's an actual instructional video for PediPaws. I bought one recently and my girls are fine with it. |

I prefer the Dremel brand. If your dog stays still then it's a good one to use. It's also powerful enough to grind the whole thing down and not have to cut at first. I don't like the PediPaws much. |
I bought the Petipaws, and I wrote a Yorkietalk blog on how to get your dog use to it. It was a slow process, but he finally allowed me to do a nail calmly. Even with him cooperating, it took too long, and when I took him to his breeder/groomer, she said I was leaving them way too long. I thought if I took a little off each week it would be fine, but it wasn't enough. She could trim all his nails, faster than I could trim one. I'm not good with the clippers, he yelped once, so now I take him to her or in between visits, we go to the vet. He has his nails cut about every 1 1/2 months. |
I have the Pedipaws and never could get either of my guys to let me use it on them. My DIL is a vet tech and she does Bogie and Jada's nails for me. If anyone is interested in the pedipaws I would be open to trading or selling. I used it once on Bogie and touched one nail for about 2 to 3 seconds. |
Bilbo hates Petipaws! He'll bark at it even when it's turned off. But that's okay, my hubby uses it for a grinder! |

The "guard" on the PediPaws is actually a hindrance. So, I removed it. Still, if anyone can find a PediPaws for $5.00 just to see if their Yorkies will tolerate it, it's fine for a trial, and if they are okay with it, I recommend investing in a dremel. Sheila |
