Nail Clipper recommendations wanted. I really need to find a good quality nail clipper that can stay sharp or be sharpened easily or have easily replaced blades. It seems like the ones we buy get dull almost immediately. When they are dull, they seem to hurt my pups and I HATE that! Please help! :( |
I'm going to keep an eye on this thread - I need a recommendation also:D |

Why don't y'all use Pedipaws? It works great and is easy to use. They don't pull back as soon as they hear the snap sound of their nail being clipped. So much easier esp. since their nails are black. |
I've tried those and my dogs go nuts! They hate the sound. But thanks for the suggestion. :) |

There has to be something on the market that will be painless to us both. I have the pedipaws and she is afraid of it. I have some guillotene clippers and that is an issue too. Finally I have the ones that look like scissors. She hates that too. You would think I was trying to kill her. I do try to cut the nails after a bath. That way hopefully they are a bit softer. Tell me if you guys find anything. I am at my witts end trying to fight bubbles to get her nails cut. |
I have the pedi-paws and while i do use it, all 3 of mine absolutely hate it! I use a basic clipper to clip their nails and then the pedi-paws to dull them out so their not as sharp but they act as if i am torturing them, the minute I turn that thing on.:) |
I would reccomend a nail grinder by Dremel . They are quiet and very safe . It is no where compared to a pedi paws which I heard are terrible. Too noisy , and the dogs are very scared . You can look at the nail grinders , on Petedge, they are very nice . |
I bought the Pedi Paws, but my youngest, Razael doesn't like the noise, so I now buy cat nail clippers since the girls are small. I don't like to spend a bunch on any nail clipper because they dull too fast. I find these little cat nail clippers seem to last even longer than the 8 to 12 dollar dog nail clipper. I only buy the 3 or 4 dollar ones. So easy to pack in their duffle too. :p SAFARI CAT NAIL TRIMMER |
I use this brand and like them except for the safety guard that is supposed to prevent you from clipping the quick. The only time I ever did cut into the quick was using the safety guard, so now I slide the guard out of my way. They've stayed sharp now for two years. My vet just used human nail clippers when he first showed me how to cut Ruby's nails. I also use a Peticure too smooth their nails after clipping. J-B Wholesale Pet Supplies, Inc. |
