Question about haircuts Louis just turned 2 years old and he has never had the hair on his body cut. Are you suppose to cut off the puppy hair? |
That's entirely up to you. I had to cut off a lot of Chelsea's hair when she blew her puppy coat and it nearly killed me. My two darker boys never seemed to blow their coats so I've never cut them. It just depends on how it looks, how you want it to look, how easy/hard it is to maintain, etc. |
I cut Laci's puppy hair off because it was always getting matted her hair underneith was much softer and didnt matt as easily... Hair Styles for Yorkies | Yorkshire terrier hair cuts, grooming styles has some ideas for hair cuts!! Check it out:D |
Thanks Jeannie for the site information. I really need all the help I can get.. lol The girls need a quick trim today and this will come in handy. Have a great day.. take care of you baby because they always take care of us. |

There's no rule that says you have to cut the puppy hair. A lot of people do because of matting problems like Chelsea had. There's just something about the incoming adult hair tangling up with the puppy hair and causing bad mats. If you aren't having any problems, and if you like it long, then I'd say don't cut it. |

2 Attachment(s) It all is up to you. :) I couldn't stand Jackson's puppy hair. He started looking sooo straggly and messy. I would have to brush him 4x a day to even look like I brushed him at all. I prefer to keep his hair short, as he had kind of curly-ish hair and it starts to look messy when it grows out. First pic is as a pup and then the second is how I try to keep his hair now. |
By the time a pup reaches 9 months, his/her hair will be floor length. By then, the puppy hair reaches the floor & begins to break of. I trim Mimi's hair around her paws just bc she steps on her own hair.:p Other than that, I leave her hair long & flowing, since she doesn't tangle easily. |
