Brand of Brush & combs Hi all, what brand of brushes and combs do all you show/breeders use on your pups? Thanks in advance for any input, Kim :) |
I do not show my yorkies but I like Chris Christensen brushes. They are great! |
I order from PetEdge and Ryans Pet. They have a much better selection and quality than anything you will find in a store. Master Grooming tools work well. I use a pin brush (without the rubber balls on the end, that can break the coat) and a greyhound comb Medium coarse. Also you may want to invest in a dematter, this is the best kind I use: Ryan's Pet Supply |

From what I've seen at shows and learned from exhibitor/breeders, most prefer the Christensen brushes. That is what I use and especially love the Christensen wooden pin brush, it glides through the hair, unlike any metal pin brush I've ever used. My favorite comb is a teflon comb I ordered from The Finishing Touch. I also use a face comb and at times a detangling comb. Dog Bows: Yorkie Bows, Maltese and Shih Tzu Show Dog Bows & Show Leads |

If there is a dog show near you, consider going to shop for grooming supplies (and see some beautiful yorkies:) ). There would be many vendors offering the Christensen brushes and even if the prices are close to on-line sites, at least you could save on the shipping. Also, you could handle the brushes and get advice on which one would work best for you. |
I use the Chris Christensen brushes -the small copper pin brush 25mm and the wooden pin/wooden back brush. I do have a slicker brush which I've used exactly twice both times tonight to help to detangle my first mat ...urgha :-) I also have a small moustach comb. and am looking for a small boar bristle brush. I too like Master Grooming they have an awesome undercoat rake which I use on my Blackies. |
