Matted Hair :( It's been so cold here and I made the mistake of leaving Lilah's clothes on for a couple days in a row. Now some of her hair is really matted. I've tried combing it out to no avail. I was going to buy some kind of spray to help it out and wondered if this will help?? Will the hair un-mat (is that a word?) if I gently work on it? Or is it pointless and I should just cut the mats out? |
I am not sure if this is true or not but I watched a dog show and they used corn starch to work out the matts with there fingers, hey it is worth a shot you never know, I would think you would do it just like untangeling necklaces and rolling it with your fingers Quote:

There was a recent thread about using corn starch on matts ... sounds as though it works like magic! Good luck. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...iful-coat.html |
At work that is what I do, only not with corn starch. I just use my fingers to pull apart the mat and it usually helps to get it to a point where the comb will do the rest. We also have a tool that has about 4 or 5 little curved blades in a comb-like fashion, and what it does is cuts through the matted area so when you brush or comb through it'll come out but it's not cutting the whole entire piece of hair out so the hair won't look uneven. It's just called a de-matter but I am not sure where you could purchase one. |
