A question about Layla's tail I keep the hair on Layla's tail quite a bit longer than her body because she has a cotton coat and the hair on her tail curls- i love it! However, i've noticed that the end of her tail is "dirty". I don't know how to descirbe it. It looks like she has bad dandruff, but it's more kinda like a scab on the end of her tail. I have to scrape the skin to get it off but it doesnt' look very nice. WHen i bathe her I scrub her tail with shampoo- but it isnt' helping. Should i cut the hair all off? Although I don't know what good that would do or what i would do once i cut the hair off- any thoughts? |
I can't picture exactly what you're talking about. Can you post a pic? (What am I saying, of course you can, you have that great camera you're getting so good with). :) |

Hmm, is it a white scab or a bloody scab? I would be cautious...ringworm causes dry flaky spots on skin. Also, if she has white skin maybe she was out in the sun for too long? A pic will help hehe EDIT: She could also be chewing on it! |

Well i tried to take a picture but i couldn't get close enough and even when i did you still couldnt' see what i was talking about. I don't know what to do.... |
Maybe it's just some itchiness. Tis the season for dry skin! |
Marci, it sounds a lot like what new babies sometimes get called cradle-cap. If you take some type of oil and massage it in really well then take a dry washcloth to gently rub on it you can loosen it and brush it out. It may take more than once, but it will come off. After that is cleaned off, keep it off by using a little bit of vegetable glycerine to rub on it after her bath. Before rubbing that on, rinse the "nub" with a mixture of 3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to 1 pint of distilled water. You just need about a 1/4 of a cup. Save the rest. |

You really don't have to cut her hair. It would help if you kept it long because each time you brush the hair, it helps in stimulating the oil ducts and lubricate the hair. Cutting it would not make the dry skin better. Hope your feeling better today. I'm praying the people you love will just realize your human like them. |
