When good groomers go bad I took Capone to the groomer yesterday, which was his 1st birthday and I wanted him to look cute and take pictures of him. I take him to this new groomer I've been using and she normally does a really good job. I don't know if she was over booked and rushed him or what because he looks awful  What should I do? When I picked him up I was in a rush because she had him all day and I didn't have time to inspect him. I told her scissored all over like usual, but this time he has short spots and long spots and definitely does not look like he just came from the groomer. What should I do? I don't want to pay another $40 for someone else to fix it. She normally does a good job, should I find another groomer? |
that happen to me once with Prada,I know her cotton coat is hard to cut, so I always take her to the same groomer that does all my dogs, one time last year she came out of the groomer looking all chop up, I called the groomer and she told me that she was overbooked for that day and had one of her helpers do my girl, I told her how upset I was with Prada's look and she booked another appt. for that week and she groomed her free of charge the only set back was that she had to cut her a bit shorter than usual because of the misshap, since then when I bring Prada in SHE knows she is the only person to cut her.. give your groomer a call and tell her you are not satisfied with her job and hopefully she will make it right. hugs, Carmen in nj |
I would take him back in and explain to the groomer about the short & long spots, and ask that she fix it at no additional charge. If you do not bring it to her attention, she will not know. I don't think it is intentional that they do a "bad" job so that you will take your business elsewhere. It takes a few times for them to get it the way you want, just like a new hairdresser with your own hair.:) |
4 Attachment(s) You can't see very well in the pictures, but I attached some anyway. He has choppy parts all on his back and his legs and chest still have long hair. Not to mention the random long pieces on his head. :( I wanted to take pictures of him in the pumpkin patch and he looks so bad. |
I called and she told me thats just how yorkies hair is and it's probably because he laid on his side. She told me I should buy some hairspray from her to make it look thicker. I'm so upset. He is supposed to take be in my graduation pictures with me next week, but he looks so bad. She won't even admit is was a bad job. |
Well if she said that, I would suggest is time to go shopping for a new groomer.. I hate when people can't stand behind their services.. sorry girl, is NOT your fault or his hair, is BAD Grooming... plain and simple.. |
poor baby! I would not buy anything from her, go spend your money on a cute outfit for him to cover up her mistake. If she wont help with the cut I wouldn't go back to her! I'm sure you can find something cute for him to be in your pictures;) |

Thanks! |
Thats horrible. I know how you feel because that happened to my little Annabelle once. I was so mad. I got a similar story. My husband was upset too. He went right over and demanded our money back which we did end up getting. Don't go back there. If she cared, she would have at least had you back to try and fix things. I just brought my two new Yorkie pups home yesterday. I'm going to give it a shot at doing the grooming myself. Maybe that would be worth a try for you? Like someone else said, find a cute outfit and you can still get the cute pics you wanted :) Good luck! |
I had Toby groomed and it was the best ever. All scissor, He looked gorgeous!! Next time he came back it was not so good . The groomer said she couldn't remember what she had done. It was okay, but not as good as the first time. Last month we figured I'd find someone closer. Sent a picture of the fabulous cut (on my webpage) gave instructions to lenghten the skirt a little. Drew dotted lines ...the works. Well..... The new groomer was having a bad day. Ther was a dog with Diareaha (sp?) another having seisures. She put Toby in the crate to clean up the mess, and when she took him out her mind wasn't quite in the game and the first swipe took off the skirt. She had to even him out with a puppy cut. The good news was that the groom was free. She told DH it was such a bad cut she couldn't charge us. |
These stories scare me. Cooper goes for his first grooming Wednesday. She is a very experienced groomer but I don't have any one to ask for recommendations. Anyone use a groomer in Southern Indiana? |
Good groomers are hard to find. We were at the dog park today and saw three other Yorkies and when I asked where they were groomed, they were all groomed by the owners! I don't know if mine will sit still for me and I would be scared trimming around the eyes. I think my groomer is good although I think she over books at times but she still does a good job. She has them a long time. I take Buster & Maggie at the same time and she usually has them anywhere from 2.5 hours to 3.5 hours. But they have always looked great when she finishes. If she ever over booked to the point that my babies don't get a good cut, I won't go back. Especially if she would not admit she did a poor job. |
I tried grooming him myself and it was a disaster, lol. Every time I saw him I would just laugh because the cut I did was so bad so I took him to the groomer asap! I was going to demand my money back, but I'm just not going to go back to her. hmm, why is it so hard to find a good groomer?! |
Capone is a really cute little guy dispite the haircut;) |
