Finding and Choosing a Groomer Cooper has had all his shots and is now ready to go to the groomers. He REALLY needs a hair cut.:p I would like suggestions on how to find and choose a groomer. I am going to visit a groomer this week. I will have to drop Cooper off in the morning and pick him up in the afternoon. The groomer has Yorkies and Cooper will get to have a play day too. I want to visit the shop before taking him there. What should I look for and ask? Thanks! |
Hello?? Anyone out there? |

Obviously ask for the cost. You should find out if the cut you want for your Yorkie is one the grooomer is familiar with. Does the grooming include - nails, ears, cleaning teeth? Trimming of Pads. Does your dog have any special needs? ie: sensitive skin - hypoallergenic products? If your dog is unfamiliar with blow dryers, nail trimming, sound of a clipper, etc, you will want to let the groomer know this. State your needs very clearly. If this is a show puppy then make that very clear. If you have a certain cut in mind, you might also like to take a picture with you. That's all I can think of for now Gail |
I'm not the best person to give advise about groomers, I tried one and then gave up and have been trying to cut her on my own. But like the previous poster said, get the basic info (their policies, their cost, check out the environment, etc) and get a vibe about them. I can honestly say I visited at least 3 groomers that after visiting and asking questions I already knew I'd never take Zoe to them. Also, ask around, if you have any friends as who they use! ;) Good luck! |

Taking a pic is a great idea. I've even done this with my own hair stylist. Thanks again. I really appreciate it. :) |

Thanks for the info. If you don't mind me asking, what made you decide not to use a groomer? I think you are right that I will get a "feeling" about the groomer when I visit her shop. Thanks again!!:) |
