cryin eyes :confused:dont know if this is the right section but here goes one my fur babies always has wet facial hair as though he has been crying does anybody have any ideas so i can prevent this from happening  |
how old is your yorkie? there can be a few reasons for the excess tearing like small tear ducts, clogged tear ducts, hair in the eyes, rolled in eye lids, diet problems, dry eye, etc... |
I would take your baby to the vet so she can tell you if there is a problem. My 2 1/2 yr old has "stuff" (my grandson calls them "eye boogers") coming out of his eyes (not wet) and the vet said it is ok. I clean them with cotton balls. |
I just ordered some puppy eye wipes to help to clean up her teared up hair. I finally got her bangs into bands. I've been feeder her Science Diet Puppy. I also ordered 3 small bags of different foods. Natures Variety Instinct, Merrick, and Innova. From what I understand, none of these foods have grain. I was planning on mixing all 3 of them, so that she would have different tastes in her bowl and not get bored. If her eyes still tear, I will bring her in. Here in South Louisiana, most of us have allergies. Hopefully, my baby isn't allergic to the outdoors. (my vet said that the allergy test for her is expensive) but will do if I need to. Thank You for this post. Hopefully, the feedback you get, helps us all. |
I have know some to use distilled water which helps the eye's.. also not knowing the age.. could be teething..anne |
Ryle always had wet eyes too and we started giving him distilled water and it seems like it really works. Now Fancie never had that problem but we also give her the distilled water. Some people say it works and some say no, it seems to have cured Ryle's crying eyes though.:) |

Sasha is 5 months old and is teething. Is this something to expect when teething? I will try distilled water. |

I feed RC but don't have any tearing from it, when I switched to Blue Wilderness, Joey's eyes got really bad, and within 4 days they were horrible, I had no idea a food could do that, I was looking for tummy upsets, and here his eyes started flooding. Some people have reported the same problem with Wellness another highly rated food. Like people. dogs are allergic to different things, what might bother one dog may not bother another. Read the link I posted in my previous post if you haven't already, there are other things besides allergies that can cause it, and there are several different solutions that have been found effective. |

You might try some Missing Link supplement. Something in it helps with excessive tearing for some dogs. But it takes several months of use. Angel Eyes is another that is supposed to help by giving them a very low dose of antibiotic long term. |

so a trip to the vet will help you uncover what the problem may be. |

My Harry boy had an eye problem last year, after we ruled out food allergies, and all other issues we change to dystille water and a drop of vinegar in his drinking water and nothing,he was still getting some brown boogers every few days and tearing every day,so my regular vet gave him eye drops for 7 days, even after that the problem persisted, he told me to just simply use warm water with a cotton ball every morning, I was still not happy with that, so I contacted a holistic vet, that suggested a product called "calm eyes" is a liquid that you use with a cotton round to clean around the Oustide of the pet's eye, and I am happy to report that Harry's eyes have been clear of boogers and tears since, is been over a year and I love it, I now use the product on all my dogs..if you do a search you will find all the post about a year ago when we were talking about it.. hugs, CArmen in nj |
