Well, I finally did it... I made Lulu Belle an appointment with a groomer and she goes in the morning. I have went back and forth on this for months...actually made another appointment a few months ago then chickened out and cancelled it. I am so flipping nervous...don't know if it because I am afraid they will mess the cut up (we have all heard the horror stories), afraid she will miss me too much (she doesn't take too well to strangers...she gets nervous and clings to me or my husband) or that they won't be delicate enough with her (she is only 4# and this is her first time). It's not like I just randomly picked a groomer out of the phone book...this one comes recommended by a co-worker of my husband and is over 30 miles away from where we live...I am probably just getting myself all worked up over nothing. I feel like I did when I sent one of my son's off to school for the first time...ughhh, I think I need a drink. |
Maybe u can ask if u can stay and watch while they groom her??? Ive heard some groomers allow that.... Dont worry im sure all will be fine. Cant wait to see pics!!! |
It definetly didn't go the way I wanted...wasn't all the groomer's fault.:cry2: |

So sorry. The biggest difficulty between groomers and their clients is miscommunication. Maybe try brining a picture with the style you want next time or ask if they have a portfolio of their work that you can look at. |
1 Attachment(s) I did take a pic in but I think she already had in mind what she wanted to do. I talked to her for a half an hour on what I wanted/ didn't want. My mom and hubby were with me...so it's not like I am crazy for thinking I was clear... Lulu was shaved when I got her at 6 months old, by the breeder...I could not wait for my baby girl's hair to grow out and look like a Yorkie. Now we're starting over...again. I will be educating myself and doing it from now on...it's what I felt I should have done before ( after reading everyone's horror stories) but I thought I would give a "pro" a chance. This mama should have listened to her "gut". This is not a really good pic...I had to take it with my cell because my digi was charging but you can see that she is naked now. Her sweet little face is so short...she cut her some bangs and she has a little piece of hair on top (behind bangs) to put up. :( |
AWWWW - poor baby - but her hair will grow back. I've never had Sadie done by a groomer cause I just don't want to leave her there. It's really VERY easy to groom Yorkie's yourself. Grab yourself a book, some scissors, a shaver, toenail clippers - and you'll be good to go. Good Luck!!!!!!! Pat (and Sadie) |
aw poor lulu! that really is a bad haircut, especially the top knot area and face. She still looks cute but being a groomer myself i would never have done that. what did you tell the groomer to do when you first went in? you said its not all the groomers fault. |

There is a funny part in all of this...the groomer's hair looks just like Lulu's. I am not even kidding...her head was shaved with just a little piece of longer hair in the front. She was a very nice person...and I didn't think anything of her haircut at the time (I am a firm believer you can't judge a person by how they look) but now, it is funny because it is the same as Lulu's. I am not going to dog her (no pun intended), she might be a great groomer for someone else but I will not be taking Lulu back. As stated previously, I feel it is best if I educate myself and groom her on my own. |
grooming her yourself is the best idea. I learned to do morgan when she was still under a year. its just so much easier and if she gets a bad haircut i have no one to blame but myself. LOL who knows what the groomer was thinking. there is a way to leave a visor (bangs short) and have a top knot but whatever she did was not it. i had to laugh about the groomers hair looking like Lulu's tho. |

I am sorry that your grooming experience did not go well. :( Poor Lulu, give her a kiss from me and tell her it will grow back, promise. To this day, I have not taken my babies to a groomer. Some might think they have horrible hair cuts but I just think they are adorable. :D Seriously, do some research, there are tons of videos on the forum/youtube and that is how I have learned (and by trial and error)... good luck! |
Sorry about your bad experience at the grromers. My wife says if the chef is thin they don't love food. She likes to see the heavyweight chefs when we go out to eat, LOL. Could be the same with groomers. If THEIR hair doesn't look good...... maybe they just don't love hair.... :p:p No offence meant to anyone, BTW. |
