If this works????.......it would be wonderful for me. I'm such a scaredy cat when it comes to trimming her nails, especially even when the Vet cut too close once. Hopefully, someone will post reviews. Thanks for posting! |
That looks great! I wonder how it senses the quick? Would love to hear reviews. I get so paranoid clipping AprilLoves' nails because they are all black, tiny, and I can't see the quick!! |
I would save your money on this as I have not been that impressed with it. My dogs still jerk their paws and this does not have that strong of a bite to it to remove the end of the nail. I do all my own grooming and I HATE doing the nails so I had high hopes on this tool but I am back to old faithful with a steel cutting edge. |
I frequent a store in town that sells pet products. The owner knows me and so he is pretty open with me. I asked him and he said don't waste your money. But I sure wish that it worked! |
I have tried it.... I had been on a list to get one before they actually even came out. I had it for about a week. My Mom tried it on her mini schnauzer....didn't work...I tried it on the girls....didn't work...yes, it does sense the quick...however, they can't move! If they do then you can't clip correctly. Also,..the material that they are made of isn't a very sturdy plastic. My Moms little girl (R.I.P Heidi) would sit very still..Mom found the quick and tried to clip...she couldn't do it...she was afraid she was going to break the handle...it just wouldn't clip...I sent them back and explained why...they never gave me a hard time...maybe they have improved them...I don't know but, if your furkids are squirmy when clipping their nails..this might not be the tool for you. |
Thanks for the reviews you guys! I guess this isn't as good as it looks :-( I am determined to find a better way to do their nails!!! AprilLoves are really hard to do, she is so little. That is really cool AprilLove ... I have a nail grinder that came with a set of Oster clippers that I bought but I haven't even tried it yet. I just hate doing nails and am not looking forward to using the grinder. I can only imagine the reaction. Anyone else use a grinder? |
I was just researching these as well a few days ago. Mostly got poor reviews. Not sure if anyone was happy with it. I too hate doing the nails and I'm so afraid of hurting them! |
This is one of the things I love about YT...finding out about products. I admit I'm an impulse buyer...and even though I know advertising isn't always truthful I'm a sucker for things...resulting in a lot of dollars down the drain. I don't post a lot (not a lot to say) but I do read everything and appreciate everyone's advice and helpful hints. So here's a product I found and like and hope someone else can benefit: Oster Advanced Clippers (got them at Walmart -- 35$ or so) and they work great. BUT, don't get the "complete kit" (despite it coming with bows, nail clippers, & slicker brush) as it has NO power. The "advanced" one is fantastic. I'm not a groomer, and all I know how to do is a "cocker" cut, but it works for my Yorkie (to keep up on her between trips to the groomer), and with such a great clipper it's fast, quiet, and she doesn't object. The "complete kit" is very quiet (can barely hear it) but it doesn't cut, (no power??) so stick with the slightly louder one and get the job done fast. Hope that helps someone thinking about getting some clippers that won't break the bank. |
nail chicken tips I was a nail clipping chicken too (ok, and I still am!) and I had high hopes for the Quick Finder, but still haven't ponied up the money for one. What I usually do is... wet the paws so you can see the nails easily among all that fur. Have someone else hold the dog. Then take tiny snips off the end of the nails. This gets you and the dog used to it. Eventually you can work your way up to snipping off a little more. Yorkie nails are hard because they're black, so give yourself a break. I had the experience of trimming cat nails for about 10 years before I got 2 Yorkies and I was still terrified. Also keep steptic powder on hand just in case. Mentally that just in case factor helps a ton. if you cut too close, you have the powder on hand, and life goes on. I am able to trim my dogs' nails now without anyone's help. But yes, I still get nervous. And of course, a treat is in order when it's all over! ;) |
