umm hair on the penis ok so his hair is getting really long down there so and it collect dirt when he pees so do u all cut it ? |
You can cut some of it but make sure to leave about 2 inches. That will help direct the pee away from his body. It helps with smell and cleanliness. A babywipe taken to that little "pee string" daily will keep him fresh too. |

If your boy isnt very tall, 2 inches might be longer than you need i only leave 1/2 to 3/4 on my little guy ( he has a tiny winky, lol) he is in full coat and he doesnt get any on his coat when he urinates. |
1 1/2 inch I leave around 1 1/2 inch long and I wipe both him and her every night , since they think they can take my pillows and sleep on my bed , I have had someone behind on my cheeks many time. Wipe it a couple times a day with a doggie wipe. I also use baby wipes. just make sure there is no alcohol in the wipes. Nothing worse than a stinky winky !! |
wow...interesting I always cut it short and my Quinn always ends up with pee all over his little belly...he is very short...so I will try leaving 1/2 inch on him... like people say you learn something new everyday! |
my groomers usually cut the hair on the wee wee pretty short. i prefer it short so it doesnt stay on his hair... interesting, i never knew you had to keep some hair on. thanks! |
Tried both ways, with leaving a pee string, especially on show dogs....just had to make sure they were wiped a few times a day. I prefer keeping the shaving the hair off the penis sheath and the belly shaved, less pee smell |
hair on winky I have 3 boys and I hate picking them up and grabbing a wet belly. My groomer suggested shelling the belly out (shaving it up to about the front legs) and that has worked great for me. Male & Female Saniatry Shave All 3 of my Yorkies get a "Sanitary Shave", both my male and 2 females are shaved in their private areas; from their Stomach's to their back legs down to their knees, in the back up their rear to the end of their Tails. I also wipe them clean with a warm wash cloth after their "Bathroom Walks". I shave them with a Cordless Trimmer about every other month. Especially Artie since he spends the most time on Lap. At least one of them will end up sleeping in my Bed, if not all 3? So insist on keeping them very Clean and I am very sensitive about how they smell too. Before I shaved them they would smell like Pee and now they are oderless. |
