Yorkie with dandruff Charlie has had dandruff since he was a puppy. When we got him he was neglected and extremely matted, so we had all his hair shaved off. Hes 9 months old now but he STILL has dandruff... I use the same shampoo and conditioner on him as I do on Nana and she doesn't have this problem.. is there anything I can give him? or any good product to use while bathing? thanks!! :) |
Try this! They say online to use a really mild shampoo like a baby shampoo. You can also use and lotions that we would use on our hands. You can rub them down with it and leave it on for a few days. Good luck. I know I use to use a hair cholesterol. It used to come in a tub. They have it at Walmarts. |
I tryed the baby shampoo and it made him worse.. I used medicated shampoo for dandruff and itchy skin but that didn't work either :( Ill try the lotion idea tho! |
Use oatmeal shampoo (any kind). It works! Good luck!! :) |
Some massage coconut oil into skin then follow with warm rinse.. |
Try Biogroom oatmeal shampoo and when it says to shampoo it in and leave it on for 3-5 minutes, really make sure you do. I give him a really good massage during the time, he loves it. Make sure to rinse very well. I actually rinse twice even if I think I got all the suds out the first time. Also, perhaps try to extend the time between baths until you get it under control. |
Maybe add a fish oil capsule to his daily meal? |

Just a thought as I have no experience with this... Could it be some other skin condition? Or a food allergy? |

I'm going to write a shampoo/conditioner review as soon as I get time. But KONA chips sells shampoo and conditioner and it WORKS aMAZING with the dander. There is coconut in it. It works great!!!! Try it and tell me how it works for you. Ella's dander is almost completely gone after one bath. And the smell lasts long. Keep an eye out for my post. Biogroom makes a great oatmeal one get it from Petsmart. But the Kona I can say REALLY WORKS!! Good luck! Keep us updated. PS any human shampoo is not pH balanced for our furkids (just a heads up). Also try adding salmon oil to his diet (Petco sells omega 369 coatGLO) its great. Or if you don't mind shopping online WholisticPet sells a salmon oil that works super fast better than coatGLO. Also get Digest All from wholisticpets it will help your little guy get all the nutrients from his food. That helped a BUNCH with my little one's coat. Good luck I hope I was able to help. |
