How do you style your yorkie? I'm just curious really! Milly is 12 months old now and loves the grooming parlour. Since she's such an active little dog, and loves to dig and generally be messy, I have her hair cut quite short on the legs, bum and face, and she has a little "skirt" of longer hair at the sides. I'm wondering how everyone else here styles their pups? I've been thinking about letting her hair grow a little longer, and while she adores being brushed, I'm wondering how practical this is for a highly active little pup who spends a good potion of the day careering around the beach or park with the other dogs. Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks :) EDIT: Sorry, I have a feeling this might be in the wrong section... Milly isn't a show dog... |
Sounds like Milly is an active love bug! 1 Attachment(s) I have Momo's body cut short & leave his legs, tail & face long. He has a very thick, cottony, tangles easily fur & this cut will keep him cool during the hot months. Why don't you try growing her hair longer & see if that works out w/her active life style. If it does...great (you might need to brush her more often, but that's ok, cuz she likes brushing). If it doesn't, then she can go get a stylish haircut. Would love to see pics of Milly's 'skirt' cut!:D |
Oh he's absolutely adorable! Milly's next appointment is in 8 days time, so I'll take some pictures of her little skirt when she's all tidied up :) |
Thanks, Momo gives you kisses! Oh, goodie! Yes, please post pics of Milly soon!:D |
4 Attachment(s) OK, so she was at the grooming parlour today and I took a couple of pictures :) (She doesn't actually have a hosepipe up where the sun don't shine, it just looks like that!) |
Lol! The 1st pic w/the hosepipe (?) was funny!! Milly looks fantastic!! Very nice cut, looks clean & neat. I'm sure she's happy w/the cut too. |
Thanks :) We're going to try to grow her hair on the legs, head and tail a bit, rather like Momo's style! If it turns out not to be practical for her, we can always chop it off later! |
I started growing Cash's coat a year ago. I kept his face hair short, but we are now growing this as well. I prefer the long coats, they are gorgeous, so my babies are on their way to having beautiful long coats. |

I have three in long coats, and they are very active :). One especially loves to roll in anything that doesn't smell right, lol:D I think it all depends on how easy their coat is to take care of. If mine had really difficult coats, I would not keep them long. I think it is personal preference and how the grooming time fits into your schedule. Right now, for me it takes approx 5-10 min each day for each one for brushing out and ponies. They can play and run and roll, just as easily in a long coat as a short one, it doesn't matter to them, lol oops, just noticed this thread was from a few months ago and Momo... Rozi says hi :-) |
