Silky or Cottony? I know this is going to sound crazy, but how do you tell if your yorkies coat is silky or cottony? Any information would be great. Thanks! |
what does it feel like to you? |
Almost 'rugged' feeling. Not smooth and maybe kind of coarse. |
then that is cottony coat...feels sorta line yarn in my opinion...silky hair is smooth and and silky..hehe. |
how old is your furbaby? if still a puppy then it may be the puppy coat....also people say if the yorkie is an adult and you take a picture...usually green and blue eyes means silky coat whereas orange and red means cottony coat...and it holds true most of the time...hehe |

also i noticed that when they are silky coat as puppies they tend to look really greasy even after a bath....my Mei Ling is a true silky coat yorkie and she was always look greasy...even an hour after bath... now she is fighting leather ears...which isn't life threatening but her hair on her ears are not growing...or should i say was not growing but since researching on the topic i found the rubbing alcohol and 1% lotrimin creme is the fix...i notcied that her hair is growing back. |

she could be it is hard to tell... leather ears is winter ears....they ears are cold to touch...that is why i am hesitant to shave down my other ears for i don't want their ears to look like Mei ling...hehe |
4 Attachment(s) here is a picture of Mei ling hair...silky hair tends to shine... |
Mei ling is beautiful! I'm going to go with a cottony coat. Although, the top of her head always looks scraggly...lol... She is thought to be mixed with Schnuzar (sp) so she also has a little undercoat as well. Thank you for your help! |

Kind of, I found her in a field close to my home back in February. We think she was abandoned since she was not full yorkie. |
aww that is sad to hear....but glad you 2 found each other...hehe |
Thank you! I just adore her to pieces! She has been such a joy to have, I can't imagine my life without her. She'll be @ 6 months old this week. |
