To anyone who have buzzed their yorkies..... ..............and then grew it out long again; Did their hair come back the same as it was before, or worse, or better? I'm not wondering about the color but more of whether it came back, straighter, curlier, thicker, thinner, coarser, more cottony, or silkier? Or did it come back the same as it was? The thought just popped into my head & I've been curious all evening. Anyone have their experiance on this to share? |
Last fall I moved to the country and my city Princess became a country girl. I had her shaved and regretted it almost instantanously! I wish I would have been more patient and tried to get the "stickers" out myself. She was not my little furbaby anymore!!! I regretted it because she looked soooooo silly and she even acted embarrassed! It seemed to me her hair grew back just a little wavier and slightly coarser than what it was before the groomer's clippers defrocked my Princess! |

So funny this post came up today...My husband buzzed 2 of our babies and sent me a pic of them while I was at work.....They are adorable ! He buzzed their bodies and left their legs long (you know how they can have those stick legs)...He cleaned up their ears and face and left enough facial hair on....I think it's the schnauzer look except he took off the hair on their bellies....I wasn't sure how they would look in person, but when I got home, OMG they are really cute !!! I always wanted to try it but was chicken....I guess you could say my husband is a lucky man I liked it!!! :aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
Her hair was straight with a slight coarse texture...I do think it was the "shock" of no more furbaby, one of the big reasons I fell in love with yorkies. She just looked "silly" to me as a shavedbaby. By no means was I mad or upset...I actually laughed quite a bit when I first saw her. The "oh no what did mommy do to you" laugh. She did however willingly wear sweaters over the winter:p |
Well the reason I posted this thread was because I have a yorkie whose hair is so soft (as silk), but "fluffy", and it doesn't lay nice against his body. But when he was wearing belly bands while my female was in heat last November, afterwards when I brushed him out he was losing tufts of fur...maybe the hair that was being rubbed against the belly band.....and since then, the hair on the bottom fourth of his body lays pretty nice. But from his rib cage on up it's still "fluffy". I've kind of wondered if the "fluffy" hair was part of his puppy coat, but he'll be 2 in September so maybe not. Anyway in looking at him yesterday I wondered about the buzzing idea. He's not even 5 lbs, so I'm not going to do it.......I just recently got brave enough to cut it shorter, but no buzz for him forseen. FYI, I have one in a long full coat (straight & silky), the one with the "fluffy" coat (shorter, but not buzzed), and one with the schnauzer cut (love this cut on him). |
I have a longer version of the "puppy cut" on Bella. I LOVE the long silky look on your baby and I would love for her to look like that. As much as I try to keep her as a "Pretty Princess" the harder she tries to be a ragamuffin. She takes her bows out immediately. We live in the country and she LOVES to get dirty!!!!! :( |
I shave Buddy down in the summer months and his coat comes back the same. He has a straight silky coat and the shaving has made no difference at all. However, the color changes from jet black, (roots) to black with golden highlights when it is longer. |
Sounds like fluffy has a cotton coat. Reggie and Reese's hair is cotton...soft but fluffy. If you shave down a puppy....what comes in is the adult coat and that remains the hair texture. |
Where are all the pictures???? |
What type of trimmers did everyone use? I tried walh human clipper but Bella's hair seamed too soft and it didn't really cut. |
Harley's hair is lighter when it's shorter and is still silky, but he has a couple hairs that are more coarse. He has beautiful silky hair, but has lots of body and is really thick. Plus I had a new baby, so I decided to shave his body, but scissor his legs and face. (I use Andis or Oster clippers). |
Cash's first cut was a buzz that a groomer did, and i didnt want. after laughing my ass off at how long their legs are without their hair I didnt mind the cut. His hair grew back with the same texture but I swear a different color. |
How long does it take for fur to grow back? I have a female "London", she is 3 and I just adopted her from the Humane Society. They had to shave her because her fur was so badly matted and she was infested with fleas. Anyway, I can't wait to be able to have her groomed to actually look like a yorkie! How long does it usually take for their coat to grow back? |
My dogs hair has always grown back the same. Now on the other hand, when I had surgery and mine almost all came out, it came back in thinner, finer, and wavy.:) |
