What are your thoughts on MOBILE GROOMING?? I have heard way too many awful stories about what happens to some babies while at the groomers :(:(. Plus, it just has always felt really unnatural to me to just drop off the "love of my life" somewhere without having any idea of what is really going on while I'm gone. So I called a mobile pet groomer to come groom Ralphie and Agnes. She did a great job and from what I could tell, she really cares about them and they LOVE her...even after the grooming which is always a good sign (especially with Ralphie being such a little devil to groom :p:p). It is reasonably priced ans she comes right to my house. Soooo, what do you guys think?? Besides grooming yourself which would obviously be the safest choice...what are your thoughts on this? |
while in florida we have a moblile groomer that comes into our park.. I have used them and it is so so much better then taking the dogs and leaving them to fend for themselves.. either stuck in a cage all day long.. or worse at some places from what I have read.. so I say if some one was a groomer on this forum and they lived in the right place it would be a great business to start up... and I find them cheaper then taking them all out... anne |
Excellent Idea! I would love to have the groomer come to my home! Okay all you YT groomers out there...this is a great business opportunity in your community! Just let me know if you move to Lebanon, Pa. I'll be your first customer!!!!! |
I think it's wonderful.....glad to know u had a good experience. I really would like to try it!! I hate leaving Bella for so long @the groomers, but I've known her for so many years. I Love the idea that they are focused only on yr baby....one @ a time! |
Okay, so YAY for mobile grooming, LOL!! SO far I love it and the babies love it so I will stick with it. Even though I trusted my other groomer, I just couldn't even sleep at night thinking about all the things that could happen. |
I have often thought how great it would be to have a groomer come to my house. A few weeks ago I actually got a postcard from someone local that has a mobile grooming set up. It is 70 bucks minimum  I have 4 dogs, 2 of which I would use her for but I just can't afford 140 bucks. I am pretty much done with groomers too at this point. The last time I had mine at the groomers was for detailing (and yes, I was very specific) um, my dogs were shaved.:eek::eek: Needless to say, THAT's not going to happen again. I have just been trying to keep up with it myself. |

And I have had Ralphie shaved before when he went in for a trim. I was heartbroken. Plus it was his black puppy hair so by the time it grew back it was grey,. |
I looked into mobile groomers because I love the idea of just having it done right in our own driveway! Before I owned Jackson, my mom did that with her dog a few times with great success. I called and got a few estimates for Jackson and they were all $65 or more! Most were in the $70-80 range. I guess because they charge a travel fee. But, yeah, I wasn't about to pay that especially when Jackson needs groomed once every 6- 8 weeks before he starts looking straggly. |
I think it is a fantastic idea. The mobile groomer in this area charges quite a bit more than the shops though. I have not used them for that reason. I would pay a little more for the benefit of keeping them home but not double. The mobile groomer wants $65-$75 each for up to 12 pounds here. I only pay $35-$40 to get mine groomed at the shops. I figure they don't have near the overhead a "brick and mortar" type establishment has so they don't really need to jack up the price quite that much. I have checked around and find where I can get the first appointment of the day, that way I can wait and have them back and not leave them all day. One let me actually come in while she groomed but I think it was harder to keep my babies calm when they saw me. So I just wait outside. Last time, I actually got brave enough to run to the store while Ben was getting groomed. But that was after several times at that shop. Still, I have him back in no longer than 2 hours. |
wow in newyork it is more expensive 50 and more i am going to groom my own dog .and i know i would do a good job |
