Can anyone out there tell me what size grooming band to use on my dog. She has very fine hair, and is always pulling her pony tail out. They sell so many different sizes, I am confused. Also, what about latex vs non latex. They said the non latex is newer and holds better, but I just don't know.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's recommended to use latex as they don't pull/break the hair as much. However, when removing them they should be cut out, not pulled out. Cause they still will grip the hair and pull it out some. (personal experience) I just bought some 1/4" size grooming bands and they don't stretch very well. I'm disappointed. I should have gotten the 3/8". I also use those clear plastic ones they sell in the woman's hair products section in stores. They are great, however, they slip out if there is not a bow holding them in. I've also seen my groomer do a really neat trick with the grooming bands and a hemostat. I bought a hemostat but for the life of me can't figure out how she does it. I go to her on Sunday and I will ask.

I think the ones I just got were from PetEdge.com. Click on "grooming" then I think "accessories". You'll find the cream/yellow colored ones and the flourescent colored ones. PetEdge does have a $6.99 ordering fee for orders under a certain amount. So look around and see if there is anything else you like. I bought a wonderful small grooming table from them for $34.99. It is excellent and I am very glad I spent the money. It makes grooming her so much easier. She's still very wiggly for me to put her on a counter or on top of the dryer is just out of the question. I put her on the table and put on the grooming leash and she stays put. It even rotates, so you don't have to move the dog, you just spin the table!

Sorry for the delay. I've had visitors from our UK branch this week and not been on YT much. If you pupy's hair isn't thick, the 1/4" will probably be ok. Sophie's is so thick, so I should have went with the 3.8". Keep in mind though, the 1/4" are really tight so if you don't have very nimble hands/fingers, you may struggle. You can use 3/8" there's no need to go really small. You'll just wrap a larger one an extra time than you would the smaller. ie: the 1/4" you may only have to wrap twice where the 3/8" you may need to do 3 times. No worries.

I order mine from this place.Dog Bows and Show Dog Supplies - Show Dog Bows and Leads they have a chart and when I placed my order, the lady told me if your yorkies hair is really fine, then you need to order the small ones. She sent me a sample of the small ones and I like them so much better for my yorkies. i show and I need something to really hold the hair. They also sell band scissors.
