How to grow out and maintain the top and eye hair around the face Trying to grow out the top hair. She doesn't like a clip or bow in her hair. She keeps shaking her head till it falls out. Also do you grow the hair out longer from the eyes? |
Yep I hear you!! Mia hated bows and everything for the longest time. I just use tiny rubber bands and got her used to that. Then after a long time did a little thing at a time. She is just a tom boy and will knock out whatever I do in 5 minutes or less. |
Mine have all been the same. I just keep putting it back in, after a couple months they get use to it. :D |
This is a great question. I am facing the same challenge now. CoCo was groomed today, I asked the groomer to keep the front longer so I can pull it up. Bow was in when she came home, then of course she shook it off, I have since clipped it back in 3 times...and it's off now. |
To get them used to a topknot....just put their hair up in a band without a bow. Later on you can add a bow. If you want a nice topknot ....do not give them bangs nor cut the hair at the bridge of their nose...while it's growing out...simply use get to keep it out of their eyes |
As everyone has said consistency is the secret. Is best to start with just a rubber band and get them used to that. They are a lot harder to shake out. They will eventually get used to it. My boys will even lay their heads down for me to fix their pony tails. They really are creatures of habit. |

All of mine wait patiently for me to put their hair up. |
Couver hated it in the beginning. I would use regular small hair ties, and he was able to shake those out, no problem! I changed to small rubber bands, and they will slide out slowly throughout the day, but I really only have to fix it once. :) He is now very used to his top knot, and is oblivious of it :D |
