Do they like wearing things in their hair??? :aimeeyork Are all Yorkies pretty comfortable wearing bows in their hair or is it a praticed art? Lol...:) |
Chloe hates it! Maybe one day she will get used to it! |
I think you need to start them young. Ben and Sadie would just pull each other's bow out, so I stopped trying. Now, with just Ben, I tried and he just shook and rubbed til he got it off. He seems determined not to have a bow. :( I always love the look of a show-ready Yorkie with a nice red bow in their topknot. |
My cookie son't keep hers in either. i've tried the regular groomers bands, little girl barrettes, and claw clips. So far she has gotten everything out. Anybody have any ideas? |
My 2 boy's will keep bows and top nots in but my Girl...NO WAY! She rupbs her haed all over the place and used her paws to try to pull it out:rolleyes: |
Zoe will NOT wear bows or clothes. The boys will sometimes tolerate clothing but absolutely nothing in their hair! Its a matter of being consistent from the get go. |
I try to keep something in Stewart's topknot daily. Sometimes it's only for a couple of hours. He no longer rubs and pulls I think consistency is the key! |
Mimi loves getting her hair done!:p She'll lie down on my lap & put her head on my leg & wait patiently until I fix her hair. I've been doing this ever since she was 7 months old & she's always had long hair since. Now, as for Momo...he won't stay still for even 2 seconds for me to do anything to him!:D When he was a pup, he used to pull Mimi's hairband & barrettes & eat them! I'll come home to Mimi's hair all messed up & find hairbands & barrettes (TG it was the tiny snappy kinds) in his poop! He doesn't do this anymore, so I think as pups; just like children, they don't like stuff in their hair & their mommies fussing over them. |
i dont have my puppy yet. i bring her home nxt sat :) sooooo exiting,, im on here trying to learn all i can b4 i do..i love the look of the topknots and bows :D all the dogs look so cute with them! i dont know if im allowed to ask on here  but i just wondered at wot age would u start trying to put them in? sorry if im on the wrong bit to ask. |
Genghis doesn't complain when I put a top knot in his hair, he does protest when I go crazy and put a bunch of top knots all the way down his back! But it's sooooo cute. Next time I do it I'll take pictures and post! |

I guess you can start at any age as long as there's enough hair to put in a top knot. The earlier the better I think, so they'll get used to it. I couldn't wait to put stuff in Mimi's hair when she was a pup, so I used tiny snappy barrettes cuz her hair wasn't long enough. Puppies have a tendency to chew stuff & eat it, so make sure it's secure.:D |
