I have been looking for a new brush. I know this is a stupid question but everyone mentioned the different colors. It it all the same brush or do the different colors have different features in some way?

The blue & green is best for Yorkies cuz it has the softest cushion. I'll be selling the Madan pin brushes in about a week (waiting for shipment), please PM me if you want me to let you know when I get them. I'll be selling them for $16 + shipping by zip code via usps. I'll also be posting them for sale on the 'Yorkie products for sale' section.:D

Another vendor told me that all the colors were the soft cushion, and it was only the black that had the option of hard or soft cushion. She said that Yorkies, and other dogs with long hair need the soft. Has this changed, it was over a year ago when I heard this.

I thought so too, so I ordered blk w/blk cushion & pink for myself. I know the blk w/red cushion has a harder cushion & is good for Afgan Hound, Old English Sheepdogs, Cockers, & other long coated breeds. I asked the sales rep at Star of Madan & that's what she said. So I ordered mostly all blue & green!:D Some pink for the girly girls...:p

You're right. Single coated breeds like Yorkies and Maltese need a soft cushion for the "give".

This is what Cindy Fernking wrote to me when I was ordering mine: "The blue or green brush are actually softer than the black. There are two black brushes one has a black pad that is made for a coated dog. The one with the orange pad is made for terriers and that type of coat. If you are looking for a very soft brush blue or green is the color you need. the black falls in the middle for tension on the pins for the colored Madan brushes."

I had actually wanted a black one, but when she wrote that, I got a blue one. She did not specifically mention the pink or purple ones, but since she said I should get blue or green if I wanted a very soft brush, I took that to mean they would be softer than all the other colors. I wanted the softest they had.

I relented and gave Ben his Maden brush. This is really a great brush for him. It will get the tangles out and leaves him very shiny. He does not like getting brushed. But he settled down for me and quit fighting it. That is an improvement for Ben. I think as he continues to realize how good it feels, he may wind up enjoying being brushed eventually. It is nice on the person doing the brushing too -- just feels good in your hand.

I still think I am going to order another for me though. :) Wish I could feel them all in person before ordering. I would love to go to one of the big pet trade shows where they have all the vendors set up. Course I would probably spend my kid's college fund so maybe it is best I don't have one around here to attend. :rolleyes:

Joey's brush is black with the black pad, the pad seems really soft or spongy, I thought it was the black with red pad that was hard, like the one in this picture. http://www.laineeltd.com/laineeltd/images/mpb_bhard.jpg

You're right. I suspect Cindy suggested blue or green because she knew Ben was a boy. Maybe she was out of black on black?

Miss Lady has a pink one and it is very soft.

I bought the purple one and it is soft and spongey, there was nothing mentioned about a difference

do they have a website...well i already have 4 which am only using 2...hehe..but it doesn't hurt to know where the good deals are...hehe...especially with the way the economy is right now.

In the quote I posted from Cindy she does say the black with red is hard. But she specifically says the Blue and Green are the soft ones and that the black one falls in the middle.

So....I went to the manufacturer. I sent an email to the Maden people in Taiwan. Hopefully they will answer and we will know. But if that black one is working for you -- seems like that is an answer in itself. On the Maden site, the only mention of a difference is Black-soft and Black-hard -- none of the other colors say anything. So, you all are probably right. I bet all the colors are the same except that Black-hard one. Oh well, the blue one is pretty, not sure why I wanted the black one, other than my son's school colors are black and gold and everything we seem to buy is one of those colors. :)
