what is the best type of brush for a yorkie? I have one but I don't really like the one I have. Is there a type of brush that is good for yorkies? |
I'd like to know that too! :p |
Well when i asked the vet this question, she told me to get a fine comb to get all the knots out first.. then i take a wire brush and brush over. Someone can tell me if im grooming her right or not.. ? |
I was told brush first then comb.... i'm sooo confused  |
eeck now i am too! maybe an expert can help us out... |
|
I'm no expert, but I use a comb I got from Sally's it has 3 rows of teeth. Chance doesn't mind it, it doesn't pull her hair. It didn't cost much either. |
ok that is what i use a "pin" brush.. i just had no idea what it was called! LOL thanks - but do you use that BEFORE the other brush? Or after? |
I couldn't do my three's coats without a Pin brush and a Sicker brush for working out tangles.......This is where a lot of people get their brushes, they're a bit pricey but when you consider they will last your many years it might be worth it.....I just got mine at the pet store......... is there a specific one from their website that is good? |
Buy the 20MM pin brush. Personally I don't think it's necessary to get the brass one.....I own the stainless steel. |
im not sure... i have a pin brush and then another brush the vet recommended .. kind of like a regular wire brush that makes her look nice and fluffy:) |
I love my Madan brush! After I got mine, I retired my CC Gold Series brush and gave my brand new CC Fusion away. ;) |
4 Attachment(s) a good brush really DOES make all the difference!!! there are a couple different kinds of brushes/combs that i have.. all of these brushes, i use either daily or almost daily!! (they all really come in handy.. ESPECIALLY if you groom your own!!) love them!! (a lot of people use the Chris Christensen brushes-which are great!) i'm a hairstylist.. & use "HUMAN" hair brushes, on my girls!! since yorkies actually have HAIR and do not have an UNDERCOAT..i have found these brushes to work REALLY REALLY WELL, for BOTH my girls(one with a TON OF HAIR and a soft coat & the other with a silky coat!) ;) the ones i use the most are: ** a pin brush (kinda like the chris christensen one) & similar to this: Attachment 269469 ** a "rolling comb" (similar to the middle one below) the actual teeth "roll".. it does not cause damage or breakage to the hair.. i use it for a lot of things!! LOVE MY COMB!! Attachment 269470 ** (MASON PEARSON) boar bristle brush & boar/nylon bristle brush.. the boar bristle brush, i have found best for silky coats.. the combo, boar & nylon bristle brush, i like better for thicker, soft, cotton, etc. coats! Attachment 269471 Attachment 269472 ** we use ice on ice, for their everyday brushing!! GREAT stuff, imo!! http://www.chrissystems.com/iceonice1.htm we do have a slicker brush.. but don't ever use it! the brushes/combs i listed above really do the trick!!! ;) they are an investment..... but they make ALL the difference!!!! also, since they are professional brushes, they are "made to last"(with the proper care)! |
