anything to help with thickening hair??
 
my Gracie has really really thin hair... does anyone know of anything that I can get to thicken her hair? thanks in advance ;)

How old is Gracie? Hair texture changes in the first couple of years, most silky coats have thinner hair than cotton coats. There isn't much you can do for thin hair, it's ruled by genetics, and breeders are always striving for the best coat. If there is actual shedding and hair loss, you should rule out any medical problems such a thyroid. A nutritious diet is important, and some people have reported success with adding various supplements, partially flax seed oil, or the amino acid L-cysteine, as well as others. There are also topical grooming aids that produce thicker looking hair. When Joey was a puppy, his topknot hair was pitifully thin, so I used Biogroom Spray Set Texturizer; it just makes the hair appear thicker.

Thanks Nancy for responding... Gracie is just over a year old... I did a search last night and found more on this... and asked someone that had the same problem with their baby and shes now older and has a lot of hair... the only thing Im worried about is Gracies coat is like wiry... and the vet gave me some stuff to try that helps the coat so it wont matt as easily and it gives it a silky texture... and that has helped some but her coat is just soooo finicky that Im just stuck with keeping her in a puppy cut...:( oh well shes cute no matter what! I dont think she has any medical problems its just that her head hair is thin... thanks again Nancy!!

I saw some Yorkies cut with extreemly short body hair, shaved I guess, but long leg hair. The look was really cute. This isn't a very good picture, but it gives you some idea.

Lola has allergies and we've finally got it under control so she's getting the hair on her back legs back. However, before her allergies reared their ugly heads she had thin hair and it was cottony feeling. It didn't take much to tangle either. I'm just hoping as she gets older (she's only a year old) the texture will change and her coat will get thicker. Hopefully the same will happen with your baby. :)
