Question on grooming? I was wondering if there are any tips on bathing and being able to wash their heads without getting any water in their ears or eyes. I never thought I'd see the day when I would wrestle a 1 lb 11 oz puppy and needless to say "she wins". I'm using "E-Z Groom shampoo" and also their finishing spray. I can't even brush Bella and so I hate to say "I give up"!!!! The vet said, we needed to wait until she had all her puppy shots before taking her to the groomer, sigh! Bella will be 12 weeks on Monday and has had to sets of shots. She is a perfect puppy in all other aspects and couldn't ask for a better baby. Any tips would be appreciated! :confused: |
I do what I did when the kids were little. I put a little warm water in the sink, and I put a small ball like a ping pong ball. She will maybe try to play with that. I have a very hard time with my Trixie too. She tries to jump out of the sink. I put my whole hand on her head and push down her ears so the water doesnt get in. I use the sprayer thingy. Good Luck |
I would get johnson and johnsons baby wash and you can bathe her in that, its ok for the eyes but usually i would get a cup, and just hold the eyes shut and just rinse her like that. she is a doll! |

My dogs have been easy...but, for the face/head i had someone suggest using a washcloth for getting them wet and after shampooing use the washcloth again to rinse it away. Might be better than trying to use water directly over their head...:p |
I never rinse directly on Pao's head. He is prone to ear infection so I don't want to risk having a drop of water getting in to his ears. I just use a washcloth, put a little shampoo on it and wash his face and then use washcloth to wipe, wipe and wipe many times until I am satisfied all shampoo has been washed off. It'll take some time before puppies get used to the bathing process. They'll get better when they get older and more used to it. Took mine about 1.5 years and some floating duck toys before he just stand still in the tub for me while I bath away lol and him staring at where the duck is lol. |
I'd suggest using a tearless shampoo, just in case the shampoo does get in her eyes. As for the ears, use cotton balls this will help the water out. I use a cup when I rinse my baby's head off. But a sprayer for the body. You can also get a drying solution for their ears. Just in case you do get water in them, you can use this. Water in ears is not good, it can lead to infection. Be persistent with bathing and brushing. Mine still fights me when I bathe her, but I can tell she's getting better. Good luck! :D |
