What size Bow is right for a puppy?
 
What size bow is right for a puppy? 3/8", 5/8" or 7/8"?
I want to buy some for when my little Roxy comes home.
I don't want the bow to be so big it overwhelms her face.

Also,
Is is best to go with barrette in the beginning?
Or is it possible to put a latex band in a puppies hair easily?

I think the 3/8 is the puppy size, but girls can look great in oversized bows. Remember to use another band to wrap the topknot in, and just place the bow over that band. Same with barettes, you can use a band first and place the barettes over the band. The 3/8 is the width of the ribbon by the way. This link gives some great tips for getting puppies use to a topknot. I'm so embarassed, I thought it was the hieght of the center of the bow :confused:

I would say 3/8" for a puppy. Or you could get 5/8" and it might look a little big now but she will grow into it.

Do you know how big she will be when she comes home? If she is super tiny, you can get 3/8". If she will be around two pounds or so, a single loop 5/8" bow is a nice size because they can wear it when they get older, too.

Barrettes are a choking hazard and come out more easily than bands do. Many of my customers swear by barrettes, though. It really is a personal preference.

I know Roxy is a few weeks younger than Chloe, so this might be a thought for you...Chloe's hair is a little to short right now to hold the rubber bands in place properly, but in about 2 weeks it will be the perfect length for the rubber band to hold. By that time a 3/8 will still be a good size, but with a 5/8 she will be able to wear them as she gets older too.
