Going gray Here's a question for owners of senior yorkies - when did the gray hairs start showing on your yorkie? Where are they gray? Once they start going gray does it continue over the years? In the last year, Roxy, who is now 7, has been going gray - well really white around her mouth. But Bubba who is 2 mths older than her really shows no signs of it. Do they always get white/gray hair? |
By gray do you mean a dull gray that is different from the silver they are supposed to turn? Because Franklin has been silver in parts of his body since he was 7 months old. |
- I'm talking about White hair I guess - not really gray - white like someone getting old |
Oh. I've never heard of a dog's coat turning white as they get older. Of course I've never had a dog get that old so I wouldn't know. Good luck! I'm sure someone will come along with an answer for you. |
Prince is only 5, but I used to have a Golden, and yes, he did have gray hair around his mouth mostly. My Golden started getting gray when he was about 7 or 8. All dogs get gray hair / fur, if they live long enough. I think it's so cute!! |
1 Attachment(s) My Shadow is 8 years old now, and he's being "going gray" for a little while now - maybe 6 months or so. He is graying around his mouth - but it's only on his right side so far, and you can't always see it in pictures, but I can tell where it is. I think it gives him character. My little old man. He's still just as spunky as ever though. |
oh, I do see Shadow's gray or white. Not sure why we call it gray even in humans - as it's usually white  I just wondered how much it continues - or if it is just usually around their mouths or does it spread to the nose and other parts of the face |
