Do you think Paisley's ears will come up 1 Attachment(s) on their own, or should I have the breeder tape them. She said it is up to me, they could come up, or they could not, but she will tape them for me if I want. They are cute like this right now, but I would like them to stand up eventually. How long should I let them go on their own before it is too late? Here are pics. |
If you want them up, make sure the breeder shaves the ends of the ears & tape it up for one week, then leave it out for 24 hrs & tape back up for another week. My last litter of pups hated the tape, but got used to it. Some went up the next day. Some went up a week after I removed the tape. Some yorkie's ear leathers are too big & heavy to go up. I love floppy ears...your furbaby is adorable.:p |
Bonnie's ears stood for awhile, then they drooped. I tried massaging them, but as soon as I had my groomer "tip" them, they stood right up. She has very big ears(don't tell her mommy said that), so I wasn't sure if they'd stand or not. |
My little Frankie has big ears too. He is 8 months and they have never stood up. I have never had his ears tipped either. Would this be suggested? I knida like them down though. |
No they won't...you need to send her to ME & start all over!:p |
If you don't plan to show, does it matter if they don't stand up? I kinda like the floppy puppy dog ear look.....I wouldn't mind if whem I get my puppy if they didn't stand up. |
I have a floppy eared cutie and I love the look. My girl is prone to ear infections because they are down (moisture can build up). Just be careful to keep an eye on them if they stay down. |
She is cute!! |
My Chloe is almost 12 weeks and her vet told us the should stand on their own but I really like them up so I didnt want to take the chance so we taped them 2 days ago...took the tape off this morning and they are up already! One is a little loose still and will bond/flop over at times so I just put the tape back on but I would say by tomorrow night they will be set. If you really want them up, tape em.....just be sure to do it right because at first Chloes was bending backwards a tad....I guess from her moving and messig with it so when we took the tape off it looked like it had formed like that but after a few hours it stood normal. I would shave the ears 1st though cause it pulls out hair :( P.s...I think lots of yorkies do stand on their own...hers probabably would have eventully.. |
what a difference 8 days makes! They are not all the way up most of the time, but the little tips are all that is flopped over now and sometimes they are all the way up. I would love her either way, floppy eared, ears up, heck I would love her if they were purple and pink poka dotted ears. LOL by the way Luvfla, nice try:D I think I will keep her though. Punkinpie, I know all about the ear infection thing, I also have a bassett, and this is one of the big pitfalls of those big ole floppy (but cute) ears. |
4 Attachment(s) Thought I would show some pics to show the progression of her ears over the last week. First one is on 2-15 prior to me tipping her ears 2nd is on 2-18 3rd is on 2-19 and 4th is today |

oh wow! They came up great! Shaving alone didnt even work for us. Those ears HAD to be taped. lol |
Im glad I read all this! Joey's ears are doing very crazy things.. they seem WAY too big for his little head! hah!! One morning they will be standing straight up, the next they will be all flopped over, or only one will be up and the other will be down! we even have one ear curled backwards too! He doesn't have very hairy ears, but we might try to shave the tips so maybe just maybe they will stand up!!! :animal-pa |
I heard that they can go down when they are teething. If they go up and then down I am sure they will eventually stay up. |
