If it is just before bathing and I'm getting a mat/tangle out, I use corn starch. I've not found anything that works as well, and it's cheap! If it's between baths, and I'm combing/brushing, I use Crown Royale detangler. It works great.....but - you can use any hair conditioner (watered down) and it will work as well as the Crown Royale or other detangling products. The Ice on Ice is too heavy, for my preferences. |
I was going to try Ice on Ice...I heard a lot of people use it...I have never heard of Crown Royale...I'll try to find it...Maybe more membrs will give suggestions.... :) |
I use E-Z Glide by E-Z groom spray that really works well. I got it at a dog show I went to. Also Cowboy Magic which is an equine product but sold at some Petsmarts and feed stores |
Your going to get all kinds of recommendations finding the one that works for you is the hard part. lol.......For me I tried the C.C. Ice on Ice but on my cottony coated one it was like I used water, but it was ok on my silky coated one...Cowboy Magic seems to be very popular on this forum for mats and it does seem to work, but for me I found it too thick to work with, it was like using honey. But I did find a product that I like at Walmart in the people section it's.... Hask Pure Shine, it's a silicone type product like Cowboy Magic but it's a light spray so I have better control with it. It has always worked at getting mats out and tangles......Good luck finding what works for you! Pure Shine Frizz Remedy | Hask | Beauty & Spa | Walgreens |
:thumbup:Thank you everyone for your replies. |
The Stuff is also good and The Coat Handler. |
We really like Chris Christensens Ice on Ice also. Something that also really works well for us is Biolage Detangling Solution rinse after a bath. You have to be very careful not to get it in the eyes, but you will find it to work wonderfully on long coats....... after a shampoo, we use the conditioner and then rinse well. It is easy to keep out of the eyes if you just use it from the neck back (which is what we do! ;) ) |
Cowboy Magic doesn't work well on Penny's cottony coat...It makes her hair pretty.....but not much for close to the skin matts...However, I use it on my hair...lol |
I like "The Stuff" from Petedge -- it's great for cotton coats.  |
I use EQyss Avocado Mist. My baby boy has cottony coat & my baby girl has fine silky coat. This works great on them & it smells delicious, not overpowering. It's light, so it doesn't weigh the hair down. I ordered mine from petedge. |
