Groomer in North Carolina?
 
I recently took Baxter to Petsmart to get groomed for the first time, and I wish I never had! I read what happened to someone else's little yorkie, and I don't want to take him back. Does anybody know of a groomer in or around Gastonia or Charlotte, NC?

I got so tired of the stories I have heard and the things that I saw when I went to Petsmart that I started doing the grooming myself and it is alot cheaper as well. :p

I live in the Raleigh area. I took Lady to the groomer three times when I adopted her. The first time she was practically shaved, the second time she had a huge wound on top of her head. They never even said anything about it when I picked her up. It was a huge gouge (she still has a scar nine years later) so it must have bled like crazy. This grooming salon was even in a vet's office!

I switched groomers and Lady got the most uneven, lopsided cut! I had to buy scissors to even her up. At that point I decided it was better to learn to do it myself and I did.

DITTO!! ME TOO! I live in Morrisville, must not be too far from you. :D

Wow! :( I don't know if I could learn... I'm afraid! What if I hurt him? Is it expensive? How did y'all even begin to learn to groom? :confused::confused::confused:

You will be okay, you just have to take small steps. Do you want his hair long or short? And I am sure you can bathe and condition your baby?

He's only three months old (tomorrow!) and the vet told me to bathe him once a month right now, because he has dry skin. (Which is already better!) I've given him a bath once, and I know how. :) I will want to keep his hair short, a ''puppy cut'' I've heard it called.

I used to live in Mooresville, and Carolina Pawprints was where I took Daisy, I really liked them. They are at exit 36, turn rt. about a mile or so off of interstate. They were reccommended by my vet at the time.

Are you saying you used to live in Morrisville NC, I don't know of an exit 36. :D

Exit 36 is off of 77N about 15 min North of Charlotte. Lake Norman exit. This may be too far for you, I'm not exactly sure where Morrisville is.

How sad that you couldn't find a decent groomer! When I lived in Idaho Falls, the lady that hired me had been voted groomer of the year several years in a row (it was a contest in their local newspaper). Usually the independent owned grooming shops have the best groomers. I'm not a fan of Petsmart or Petco grooming (if you do go there, request the manager).

I recommend finding a photo of the length you like and taking it to your groomer, cause everyone's definition of a "puppy cut" is very different. Same with the definition of "short."

I groom my boy myself to. But I don't use a ARM. What are you going to connect this to?

I have a computer desk I am going to use. I don't need it for my girls I just sit on the floor and groom them but it is a back breaker. I figured I would need it because not many peoples dogs would want to just sit still and let me groom them.
