trimming hair ok,i want to let my bailee's hair grow a lil but her hair around her eyes is very long and seems to be getting in there causing her to tear..how do i go about trimming this and the hair around her ears?she has lil whiskers like a cat, will it hurt to trim those or do they need to be avoided? |
Hi there. I may not be the best person to answer this, but I cut my boy's face (on top - above the eyes) so that it can't fall into his eyes. I also grow the rest of the face hair because it doesn't bother them anymore as soon as it is long enough. Imo, if you cut the facial hair, you will always have to cut it. And no, it won't hurt to cut her whiskers. |
i plan on keeping her short, although i like the long look,it is not really practical for us. thanks for your help,if anyone else has any tips thatd be great...i wanna be prepared for i get to chopping away lol |
anyone else? |
I have never cut my girls hair , BUT I did take them to petsmart grooming once (and only once at that one:rolleyes: ) and they practically shaved her face down like a weird chihuahua and I think the whiskers were cut to. I didn't seem to bother her , but I have heard you are not suppose to cut the whiskers for balance( i think that's the reason) ? But that may be an old wives tale , I'm not sure. I think it's fine to cut the top of the hair if you don't want it to grow into a small or long topknot. Sorry I'm not much help , but this may bump it for the more experienced groomers out there |
I am probably not the best one to answer either, but I do trim the little tiny bit of hair out of the inside corners of the eyes. It doesn't necessarily get into my dog's eyes, but when she does tear a tiny bit it builds up there and gets crusty. If I keep that tiny bit of hair trimmed back it seems to be easier to wipe away those crusties without it causing her much discomfort. Other than that, I don't trim any other facial hair. I think it is all a matter of preference on your part, and how much maintenance you want to deal with. I don't mind daily facial washes...:D |
maybe Well, I have only tried to trim the hair on her face once... and she hated it!! but I made sure to clean the area first so that the hair layed nicely. That way you don't end up giving him a haircut of shame... Our poor little one has a haircut of shame on her legs because I tried to trim while she was trying to run from me... |
