Baby shampoo/conditioner vs. Doggy shampoo/conditioner We just re-homed Tallulah and things are going pretty good, but now it's time for a bath. Her previous owner said she used baby shampoo/conditioner on her but I am worried about that. Shouldn't we use doggy shampoo/conditioner for her or is baby okay?:animal-pa |
Dog shampoo is preferred because it is the correct pH and won't dry out their skin. That said, I've used baby shampoo with no issues but have since switched to dog. |
I have in the past used human hair shampoos and conditioners, many of them have worked much better than ones formulated for dogs. I have heard baby shampoos are very drying for a yorkie coat, so I use it only for the area around their eyes. Some will tell you not to use human products because of the differences in ph for dogs and humans. I never experienced any problems though, even with long term use. |
how do you clean the brown off their face? Okay, I used baby shampoo but just on her face. I have been trying to get the brown off her face and from under her eyes but it didn't really work. It's difficult because she also happens to hate people touching her face. I had to give her treats just to keep her in the same area, but she still would not sit still for more than a few seconds. She also happens to HATE the blow dryer! She squirms so much not even a treat would entice her to sit still. Instead of the nice calm grooming I was hoping for she pretty much got windblown! I don't think it helped her dislike of the blow dryer at all. :) But at least her face is a little cleaner. ;) |
