Very thin hair. Please Help! Bentley has very thin hair. It was super thick as a puppy of course but has gotten way to thin. He almost looks bald in spots when his hair is blown a certain way. Someone had told me before about using suppliments. My question is should I use suppliments? Which ones? Should I try a different food? Which one? And would they affect my already super fluffy thick coated morkie? Thanks in advance!!! |
If he had thick hair as a pup, he must have the genetics for it - but something has happened. Nutrition is usually the first culprit, followed closely by allergies and/or skin problems. First of all, what are you feeding them? Secondly, has he been to a vet for input? |
right now he is on eukanuba lamb and rice. I just recently found out that it isnt as good as i had thought so I will soon be changing that. I have not taken him to a vet because its not really "serious" i was just trying to figure it out on my own before the vet bill. what could he be missing in his diet? vitamins? |
I have my dogs on grain-free kibble - it greatly reduces the liklihood of allergies. It might be something to think about. At this point, I think I'd start with fish oil capsules; the Omega's are good for skin and hair. But please remember that results may take weeks and/or months to show up. If I can make a suggestion ... there's a forum here on food and nutrition. There are some very knowledgeable people THERE that may not check out the grooming forum. They may be able to answer your questions much better than I can. Good luck ... there's nothing more frustrating than watching your baby "decline". |
i only feed tabitha orijen 6 fish dog food, and was salmon oil. i think is enough. nutrition for his. |
