Matted Puppy Help? My 6 month old Yorkie pup is really matted. We've tried cutting out his mats but the little one doesn't like the scissors. We have a de-matting tool and coat conditioner that's supposed to help mats but they don't work. the pup is getting really impatient with us and has been trying to bite the mats and burs out. If anyone has any ideas, that'd be just fabulous, thanks. :) ~Sushipoo |
If puppy is really matted that badly....you may need to have him shaved down. Once the hair starts growing back....brush him nightly. |
3 Attachment(s) We always had our shaved at about 6 mos. When the adult fur starts growing, it is a different texture than the puppy fur. It solved our problems and the adult fur did not matt like the puppy fur. I definitely agree with shaving the pup, because if you hurt them too much by trying to comb them out they will not like being brushed as they get older. And the fur grows back quickly. It's really cute too! I'll try to attach pics to show you.... The first pic is at about 6 mos. The second, a week after her shave. The last picture is her now. |
Thanks guys- I'll consider shaving him. I think he'd look funny- quite a hoot, really. Thanks again!:D:D |
