Grooming video OMG I couldn't believe this video  I was watching the one grooming a full coat and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I couldn't even finish watching it!!! I don't know about the rest of you but there's no way I could jerk my baby's head like this lady was doing. I'd cut the snarl out before I'd do this! This is why I don't go to a groomer! How To Groom A Yorkie Videos BTW I didn't even check out the rest of the site until I was leaving. I was just looking for a grooming video to post for another thread. :thumbdown |
Very enlightening!! One more reason I will NEVER use a "professional" groomer.(if that is what that "groomer" is) |
compassoniate and professional Wow, I can't believe this video! That poor dog! I am a professional groomer, but also compassionate. I have made a DVD that is just over 2 hours long on grooming yorkies. I have 17+ years of grooming experience, and show you my secrets... I show you easy ways to groom them, putting their safety first. I use 3 different yorkie models, show a puppy cut, a traditional style, and a personality clip, along with a few different head styles which includes a topknot that will stay in all day! I also show you what equipment to buy, and where to buy it for the lowest prices around. I also show you bathing and drying. See my DVD's and read the reviews if you are interested in learning to do this yourself. With the economy so bad right now, this is a great way to save tons of $$. My website is Crown Royal Yorkshire Terriers I am currently giving members here a $10.00 discount on any of my DVD's. Buy two or more and get free shipping! I have 11 different DVD's on grooming the different breeds, and have sold nearly 2500 of them to people all over the world! I have nothing but good reviews on my instructional DVD's. I also have a great one on dog massage, and also another one on how to make bows like the show dogs wear. Sue & Cricket posh paws salon |
Interesting thread... I groom my own yorkies also.. I may not be a pro at it.. but I keep them all looking nice..for the mostpart.. groomers really do scare the pants off of me.. anne |
I am a professional groomer too and would NEVER treat any dog like this. I am a firm beliver in gentle grooming, I have had so many dogs who ATE to be groomed come to tolerate it and even give some wags at the end of the groom because they know I mean them no harm and actually make them feel GOOD! you'll laugh but I was watching a show once and this animal psycic (whether she was or not who knows), was talking about how a dog liked or disliked grooming. It made me rethink HOW I groom, if my dog could talk and DID talk what would they say?? My dogs that a groom know that when they are in the tub and I need to turn them around I tell them first...i would HATE being whipped around or turned with no knowledge. If I DO hit a tangle or snarl I aoplogize, and I firmly believe they understand what i am saying. Please do not judge all groomers because of a few crappy ones, there are many of us who work hard at what we do and care about out clients. |
I'm a groomer too and definately would never treat a dog like this. The one reason I went to grooming school is because I hated taking my "pet yorkies" to a groomer and having them cage dried and then pent up in a crate until they decided to call me to pick them up. My lil clients are treated with the uptmost respect and kindness. Their teeth are brushed, shampoo and conditioner is different for each dog and suited for their coat texture and skin. Their ears are cleaned thorougly and dried and brushed dry in my lap. They recieve a massage, and are not made to stand on the table for great lengths of time. Each dog has 2 1/2 hours devoted to them......They are never kenneled; at most they are x-penned if I can't keep my eyes on them until their owners come to pick them up. |
I feel so sorry for this dog. :( Makes you want to go to this place and grab this baby from her. I couldn't finish watching it. The poor baby is traped there in her cluthes. This is why I groom myself. Mine may not be as pretty as what groomers would make her, but I know she is safe. Now, as for all that has posted here and you are groomers, I'd bring my baby to you. You treat other babies as you would want someone to treat yours. My hat is off to you....:) |
OMG!!!!!!!!!!! :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: |
That poor Baby!:( I couldn't watch much more......:cry8: |
Disgusting!!!!!:( to top it off that poor little thing is pregnant! I too groom my own babies and this is exactly why. And this is a breeder:thumbdown:thumbdown:thumbdown sooooo sad. Harmony:animal-paHershey and lil Pitico's:animal36 mommy |

I have three little darling Yorkies and I too try to groom them myself. That woman grooming that poor darling should be whipped for her treatment of that poor thing, how would she like to have her hair pulled out with a comb the way she did her poor Yorkie. I am looking for something on the internet to show me how to groom my darlings, especially around their eyes. I don't usually cute the hair on or around their eyes because I'm not sure how to do it. If anyone can offer any suggestions I will really appreciate it. We have very few groomers here in Prince George BC that know how to do Yorkies properly. Another love of Yorkies, Bella |
not a groomer but I know better than that 1 Attachment(s) That is horrible and the damage to the coat is bad.he has a thin coat like my boy and you have to baby it.I really hope no one really takes this video serious and groom their dog that way. This is Yuri and he has the same exact color and from the look of it the same coat texture. He looks like her dog after a bath.I keep the dryer on cool and pull the hair apart gently as it dries and it will untangle as it dries I never have hair on my comb.I don't clip the ends but I have shaved him down twice and he is 2yrs old. |
 how frightening for the poor little thing! Why was the poor sweeties hair so tangled? Mine never get that tangly when given their bath! I did not watch the whole thing because I just could not imagine the pain that poor little one was feeling being jerked around by the brushing! I have only used a groomer once, and lucky for me she did not shave my boy. Then again I personally knew the groomer and she knew how I wanted my Jeter to look. Other than that one time I groom my 3 little ones myself. |
How sad to just read the posts about this video. I can't bring myself to watch it. Stories like this is the reason why I groom my own baby. She might not be perfect but she is clean and tangle free! |
Oh My..... I have groomed my own dogs for 6 years. When Rocky came along and we were up to 3, our groomer thought it was time that I learned how to do it. She taught me and she was so gentle with them...it was a great way to learn. I met Sue at YorkieFair in Michigan several years ago. I bought her grooming video and from it I have learned a lot more. I recommend it to anyone wanting to learn to groom/trim at home. |
awful!! That's why I'm getting the things together reading, watching video trying to learn to do mine. Everytime he goes in the groomers:mad: door he's shaking, crying.I have tried 3 different ones same everytime. They seem to forget dogs have feelings too. |
dvd for grooming I've looked on tjdmom can't find any dvds. Please let me know where to go.I just want to do simple puppy cut(nothing fancy) I'm most not sure what blades to use & what clipper that doesn't cost a mint. I have got 2 and sent both back. He needs a cut!!!! thanks ladies and best wishes to you all |
Omg, poor dogs, the sad thing is how they act so used to it:( |
I just noticed this is a old post, that explains why I didn't recognize anyone, HAHA! |
I am not trained in grooming at all, but I keep my Huey's coat well-groomed. He gets bathed and dried weekly and I use the clippers around his eyes. (His mother had bad cherry eyes and I will prevent that to the best of my ability). I keep his hair trimmed to a reasonable length but I like him long. I take him to a professional groomer every month for his nails and clean feet.. He is 1/2 silky, so I keep him in a silky cut instead of yorkie. The fight to do his feet isnt worth it for me and every groomer I've taken him to says he is an Angel. I never leave him. I always wait and am within earshot of him at all times. He is very good for everyone but me, so I am confident he hasnt had a bad grooming experience, but no one but me has bathed him in his 4 years of life. |
I can't watch it as it would haunt me. But from what I have read, this person is a monster. Can she be reported???? Louise and Zachary (who is getting groomed at a VERY VERY well known and well rated more expensive groomer) |

AND YOU DON"T use Slicker brushes with a wet coat, well not way she did it. Good grief. If I use I use on damp coat only. You slick in all directions to GENTLY remove the tangle and or mat. And particularly for Yorkies. With that gorgeous silk coat. I know professional groomers have time constraints, after all they are trying to earn a living, and can't take all day for one wee doggie. But still she was too rough. How-ever if you can find a small "stand" dryer, it does make life easier for all, to just adjust the blowdry nozzle and have two hands free for brushing. It looked like to me she was at one point using a Madam Brush. That's good, but she wasn't brushing from ends up, section by section. With impatience you can just rip through the hair "to get the job done"..... Not so easy or enjoyable for the dog. If you see some great owner/exhibitor/breeder combos at the show ring. We have our dogs on the table for long hours (at times). Sometimes our pups like to be out of the crate, and up on the table just taking in the sights, smells n sounds. Some dogs prefer to relax in their crate, until it is time for grooming for show ring. Some of our dogs (dependant on personality), will literally almost fall asleep as we brush them out. Trust me that we do not "rip" out tangles or mats, not at the show or at home. Every hair is precious. So our dogs if not in love with grooming are quite easily accepting of same. I wish I had made a video when Razzman had the long show coat - to compare. I guarantee you it would take me 2-3x as long as that person did with the grooming. Look at McGregor's show groom video, it is a great one. See how she treats that dog on the table!. Sad video |
