This is an emergency. Tricksie's hair is long, I brush every day, she was groomed Thurs. and today her hair is matted right to the skin between her shoulders. I used Ice on Ice detangler but I can't get them out.
Called the groomer but she hasn't called back. She must have used something different. Hope I have cornstarch in the pantry.
This is a nightmare. Would hate to cut it as I have been letting it grow for a year.

Oh I hope the cornstarch works, sometimes clothing will cause mats, even in dogs who aren't prone to them.

I finally got them out with Ice on Ice and detangler comb. Just don't know how it could happen in 36 hours after being groomed. She must have scrunched around on her back all night.:eek::eek:

I'm glad you got it out, mats can develop so fast and become impossible to remove if you wait too long.

I'm still fairly new to taking care of yorkies. We keep Zack and Zeke short/puppy cuts. Where can I buy a "pin head" brush or give me a link to show what one looks like. I'm using one that looks like the tailend of a sticker pin with the little ball on the end. I have heard that this type of brush can create static electricity. Bob

You want to be careful with brushes that have a little ball on the end, I thought this type of brush was safe, but it can break hair. This isn't so important if you will be keeping the dogs in short coats, but if you want to ever grow it out, you should probably invest in a good pin brush.. Here's a link to Madden brushes, I've heard that they are comparable to the Chris Christensen brushes, but about half the price. You don't want a bargain pin brush though; you want one that you can brush down you arm without getting scratched. The better brushes have tips that are polished smooth, and while they don't have balls that could break the hair, they wont scratch the skin either. Madden site: Madden Brushes for Dogs.
