Finally...I tamed that cottony coat! I have tried numerous products to tame down Jack's cottony coat..... Ice on Ice was like I just spritzed water on him, it had no effect on his coat at all..... Cowboy Magic just left him greasy and it was thick to work with. I came across this product called, Hask Pure Shine.... I thought for the price what do I have to lose. This product has been amazing!!.....I have more control because it's a spray... it goes on in a fine mist.... it helps tremendously with his brush out....it adds a nice luster to his coat.... and best of all his coat lays flat, no more poofy coat!!!..... It's been four days and it's still laying down. I've been using it for a month and a half with absolutely no problems!! It's a silicone type product so I figured it didn't matter if it was in the human dept because that is what Cowboy Magic is. I do use it on Jake and J.J. too even though they have silky coats, I just use less..... Here's what it looks like... Pure Shine Frizz Remedy | Hask | Beauty & Spa | Walgreens I found it at Walmart for about $4 and Walgreens caries ir for about $6 in the human product hair care section. |
Wow I am going to walgreens today and looking for it. It looks good for my hair (curly and gets frizzy in the humidity) I will try it on my yorkies too:D |
Thank you for sharing, I have 2 with thick cotton coat and have tryed just about everything  nothing seems to work real well, I will deff try it :) I love the pet silk products as well ;) |
Let me know how it works for you....we always here about different products to try on here and some love it and some have no luck with it, I'm curious if anyone else will have the same results as I did...:) |

Really ? I may have to try it too - for all of us. Thank you  The one I like for my Chanel is Sea Breeze Oil by Plush Puppy - I love that stuff - it's water based but it also keeps that hair laying flat - |
I'll have to try it...Bella's got so much hair and it tangles so easy...Does it help tangles? |
Thanks might have to try it also :D |
So does this go on AFTER the shampoo and while the hair is still damp? I'm going to try some on Kalina. She's modified, but I'm thinking it'll be really nice for her. |
I make a cream rinse of 3 different things that work beautifuly on my Azrael who has the VERY thick cotton coat. I do love how the cowboy magic works to get out any mats since it isn't oily, but more like silicone, but I haven't had to use it with my cream rinse mixture. ( The cowboy magic is for horses, not people) They all get a morning brushing without fail though. I may try the Hask Pure Shine and see if her coat will lay a bit flater and be a bit more shiny. |

Hey - Thanks for the head's up on this product. I bought some and have used it on Gracie. She's got that thick cottony coat too. It works great!!! |
I bought some today @Walmart. Can't wait to try it! But now, I'm wondering if I bought the right thing. I remembered you said it was a spray. I bought Hask Pure Shine. Spray-On Luminator?? But it does say Eliminates the Frizzies?? It's a larger bottle. 4 fl oz. just looks a little different, but I "think" it's the same thing?? What do you think?? :) |
I bought both the spray and the thick clear liquid. I first used the clear liquid then gave a spritzing over that and brushed. It looked ok when I first did that but not long after, her hair is dull and poofy again. I even tried it on Zada who has the silky type hair but still gets a few little frizzy hairs on her back, and it didn't make any difference after a little while. Maybe I'm not useing enough? |
Oh, darn, had that for my hair but made it so soft couldn't do anything with it, THREW it away, will have to make a trip to Wal Mart. I have the Ice on Ice but it is not that great. |

Yorkiedaze what's in your special creme rinse? :p Can you please share your recipe? Thanks for the tip jp4m2 - I'm going to try it! I'll post the results after I get it. |
I tried it and I like it a lot! :) The next day it was so easy to comb thru Kalina and she looks very silky now. Thanks for the tip. |
After your advice, I looked into my supply of hair products and found, "Catwalk, Shiner & Defrizzer". it worked great, not much left and just noticed that I bought it at Trade Secrets, $14.95 for 3.4oz. I will get to Wal-Mart. . |
THank you for posting this!! Im gooing to look for this also. Winston has the most cotton coat ever. It's a beast to tame! |
Thanks for the tip! I have something home that i'm going to try now and see if that works on Coco's cotton coat. Loreal dangerously straight spray. I think its probably the same type of thing. |
I went and bought some of the Hask Pure Shine Spray today and it works great! And I want to thank jp4m2 for talking about it. |
Cotty coat My Jack has a cotty coat and every since I suggested to the grommers that they could use thinning shears his hair is not as bad. which it makes brushing so much better. On the shampoo I use Pet Silk(rainshine) it tames the hair down. I did not know this product was out. I must run down and get some Thank You Cheryl/jack/Bella:animal-pa |
