Safety tips at the Groomers? My Suzi is going to have her first grooming on Saturday. I know it is stadard procedure for the groomer to place a noose around the dog's neck. I am also aware that Yorkie's have sensitive necks/and trachea issues. Is this still ok to do while groomed? I know I am worried about it because she has never even worn a collar , and now she is going to have a noose around her neck. I am worried about her safety . Is this ok for a Yorkie ? what other safety tips can you give me? thanks. :aimeeyork |
Make sure they dont use a cage dryer |
Oh my groomer doesnt use a noose so not all of them do |
make sure they put it under her armpit and around her chest |
The best tip I can give is don't take her to a groomer. There are plenty of excellent groomers out there but some just aren't. There is no way to know unless you watch them cut other dogs' hair and develop a relationship... If you don't know the groomer, watch EVERY step. Noose around the chest instead of neck if possible. No cage dryers...room temp air may be okay but best to avoid altogether. No letting the groomer turn away from the table for even 5 seconds. |
that doesnt sound good.. get another groomer or do it yourself. |
i am going to bathe her right before we go. Problem is that she gets car sick every time we travel . I am never going to leave her, and watch everything they do with her. They can still groom her with the noose around her chest. Great suggestion. I have tried to work with Suzi , however, she getgs all wound up and thinks it's playtime. Suzi needs to to be trimmed around her face too, and that makes me nervous around her eyes. Thanks for the tips. :aimeeyork |
