Differences in human vs dog clippers? I've been wanting to buy some clippers and try grooming one of my Yorkies myself. I had already been doing scissor trimming for their long coats and had one dog cut into a sort of Westie cut recently by a groomer, so I thought maybe I could maintain it myself. Well, the clippers at Petco started at $60 and up. Was gonna look around some more. Well, I took my Mom to TJ Maxx and saw that they had clippers for human haircuts for $20. They looked basically the same and it had the long combs that I wanted. Yorkie coats are more like human hair anyway I thought. Well it worked great, at least for novice like myself. Has anyone else tried human clippers? Is there any real difference? I noticed a Wahl clipper (human one) at Big Lots today for $10! That would have been a better deal than the $20 Conair I bought. |
I don't know if there is really a difference or not since you are grooming yorkies...who don't have thick hair which would require a heavy duty clipper. I've used a human clipper to clean my up, but when I went to buy a set...I specifically purchased one sold for dogs. |
I have some human clipper I bought at Sally's for $60. It came with one blade and multiple combs It's just OK. My groomer uses a fancy expensive one meant for dogs and it is AWESOME. But she uses interchangable blades rather than combs. It really gets them even and takes less than half the time (like, it can get more hair in one pass). I hope that helps! |
